About South Alabama Gas
South Alabama Gas was established in May of 1961. Gas districts were established to bring gas service to small towns and rural areas by sharing ownership of the district between more than one town, city, or county.
We are a full service propane company. We carry Whirlpool, Speed Queen, Estate, Maytag and Amana gas and electric appliances.
South Alabama Gas is governed by a five-member Board of Directors. Two of the members of the Board are elected by the city council of the City of Evergreen, and two of the members of the Board are elected by the city council of the City of Monroeville. These four members serve a four-year term. The fifth member of the Board serves a twelve-month (one-year) term. The election of the fifth board member alternates among the four towns of Frisco City, Castleberry, Repton, and Excel. The councils of these towns alternately elect a member to represent their town for the one-year term.
