Lee Motor Company Inc. was founded in 1925, by John T. Lee Sr. In May of 1940, Lee Motor Company moved to its present location at 31 S. Alabama Ave, Monroeville. Originally a Ford dealership, Lee Motor Company has added many more franchises to their line up, including Chrysler, Dodge, GMC Truck, and Buick.

John T. Lee Sr. was succeeded by his son, J.T. Lee Jr. as company president in 1961, who was followed by his son, Tommy Lee, in 1982.

In December 2013, Lee Motor Company was purchased by Rusty Sibley and father and son pair, John Crum Sessions and John Henry Sessions. The Sessions also own and operate the successful smoked meat business, Conecuh Sausage, of Evergreen, Alabama.
