About Us

Mount Sinai Medical Center was established in 1949 by a group of philanthropists and concerned citizens with two goals in mind: to make health-care services readily available to all people, regardless of race, color or creed, or their ability to pay, and to create a hospital where physicians would be allowed to practice medicine without fear of discrimination.

Fifty-seven years later, we are proud to remain a not-for-profit hospital that provides vital health care services to all citizens. Through the years, we have steadily gained the expertise, resources and facilities necessary to serve an ever-expanding population of people in need.

Our growth has been fueled by our mission to provide progressive medical education, conduct cutting-edge research and give compassionate care to our communities.

Today, our medical center has 955 beds located on two campuses and a satellite diagnostic facility located in the City of Aventura.

With more than 700 physicians, 3,000 employees and 500 volunteers, we are the largest private, not-for-profit teaching hospital in South Florida.

We continue to work hard to make a positive difference in our communities by offering vital services from obstetrics to emergency care, providing uncompensated care to those in need through a multitude of outreach and support programs.

And as one of six teaching hospitals in the state, Mount Sinai also is making an impact at the regional and national levels through our active medical training and research programs. As Mount Sinai continues to grow, so does our legacy of caring.
