Typically, no one thinks their story is special. But how many times do you seek to relate to someone with your own story? I find myself doing that all the time! “I know so-and-so, too!” or “I’ve been there too!” or “I understand what you’re saying.” We want to relate. We want to figure out our similarities and celebrate our differences. We also want to be known.
Well, I’m from Virginia. Born and raised. Love me some mountains and beaches, ‘cause you’ve got both in the Old Dominion. I had never driven over the Mississippi River when I got in a car after college and headed to Lake St. Louis, MO. With nothing but an interview scheduled for the next day and a friend’s sister’s home to stay at, I headed west. That interview turned into a great job at Stephen Ministries in Overland, MO where I learned a ton about incredible customer service, seeking to do things excellently, and market research. I met my husband, Andy, through a local church singles ministry, and in 2006 we were married.
Andy spent 10 years producing videos for a company in Brentwood, but felt he could produce better films on his own being able to tell stories rather than just interview people. Over the years it has come down to this: we love exploring and telling stories well. We love getting to know the people we work with and helping them tell their story to their audience. Part of it is a discovery, just like a relationship. What message do you need to share? Who is your audience? Which story best relates to your audience? And then how do we tell that story in a way that will connect? People want to relate to you more than they want to know what you do or how you do it. It’s the reason we’re all in the chamber together! Connections. Relationships. Stories. Every business has a story. We want to help tell yours.
