Fort Zumwalt’s Apprenticeship Program
Fort Zumwalt’s mission, “Educate, Empower and Equip Students to Excel,” is fueling a talent pipeline for local businesses.
Industrial Technology teacher Andy McHaffie and Dr. Patrick Brown, Executive Director of STEAM and CTE, are the guiding force behind FZSD’s USDOL Certified Apprenticeship Program. They have shared the program with business leaders and elected officials, including Gov. Mike Parson and Rep. Blaine Leutkemeyer, who heard from students about their FZSD classwork and their work as apprentices with the district’s business partners.
Once students complete one of FZ’s many Career Technical Education (CTE) Apprenticeship Courses in Industrial Tech, Business, Family and Consumer Science, Computer Science, etc., they can apply and interview. Apprentices earn a competitive wage, credit through St. Charles Community College and, upon completion of the program, their apprenticeship certification.
Learn more at the Apprenticeship Signing Event at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, at 1138 Tom Ginnever.
