Safety First This Spring!
As we move into spring, it’s a good time to refresh our focus on workplace safety and preparedness. Whether you work in an office, out in the field, or in public service, staying aware and proactive helps protect you, your team, and the residents we serve.
Spring Safety Tips
-
Prevent slips, trips, and falls: Watch for wet floors, icy patches that linger, or uneven surfaces outdoors.
-
Driving safety: Be alert during rainy days or construction season; follow all county vehicle policies.
-
Outdoor work precautions: Use sunscreen, wear proper footwear, and stay hydrated during park, maintenance, or public works projects.
Emergency Preparedness
-
Review county procedures for severe weather, flooding, or other emergencies.
-
Keep emergency contact lists and department-specific plans accessible.
-
Make sure personal protective equipment is in good condition and used properly.
Workplace Health
-
Pay attention to ergonomics, especially as office setups shift after winter months.
-
Check in on your mental health—take breaks, talk to colleagues, or use available employee support resources.
Take a few minutes this month to review safety protocols in your area and make one adjustment that improves your safety or your team’s safety.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility. By staying aware and prepared, we keep ourselves, our coworkers, and the St. Charles County community safe and strong.
