Cedar Summerstock Theater is an intensive program for collegiate theatre performance majors to collaborate, connect, and work with professionals in the industry. College performers and crew will receive free room and board. In addition, each college participant will receive a $1000 stipend upon completion of the season.
Our season will include four musical productions and two cabaret style events. All four musical productions will be staged at the Cedar River Complex in Krapek Family Fine Arts Center located in Osage, IA. Ninety minutes south of the Twin Cities, two hours from both ISU and Des Moines, and two and a half hours from Iowa City, Osage is located in Mitchell County on Hwy 218.
The cast, crew, and artistic staff will be housed at the nearby historic St. Ansgar Elementary School in St. Ansgar, IA, which is 10 miles NW of Osage on Hwy 218. They will live in air-conditioned, dormitory rooms based on gender. Common living space, kitchen, and dining areas are near the rehearsal rooms. Male and female bathrooms are located on each floor with separate showers in the basement. The artistic staff will be assigned a private room.
For summer fun, there are indoor and outdoor pools, canoeing, kayaking, bike trails, and a 9-hole golf course conveniently located near the housing and performance facilities.
Cedar Summerstock offers an intensive performance experience and opportunity to mentor rural youth and be mentor by professionals in the industry. We look forward to hearing from you!
