February 2016

President's Corner

Hi Everyone!

Just a short note this week.

I had the privilege to attend the West Valley Women’s luncheon on Wednesday, a very impressive organization filled with professional women who know how to get things done.  If you are a woman in business here in the West Valley this is a group you definitely want to be a part of.

A quick reminder – if you are a small business you don’t want to miss next Wednesday’s luncheon.  Our guest speaker is Thomas Barr from Local First Arizona.  Full details in the next column.

Until next week -

If you have any comments or questions please do not hesitate to call me at 623-979-3601, or e-mail me:  gerickson@peoriachamber.com

The Grand Season is a direct- mailed, monthly magazine publication with a focus on connecting local businesses with the over-50 active adult communities in the Northwest Valley of Phoenix, Arizona.  Headquartered in Sun City West, The Grand Season has been serving the local business community since 2000.

Over 70,000 magazines are direct-mailed to the homes in the most affluent and active residential communities resulting in a readership of over 120,000 residents.

In addition to advertisements sponsored by the local businesses, The Grand Season publishes business profiles on two of our advertisers each month, allowing our readers to get to know the businesses they may want to utilize for their particular needs.
The businesses advertising in The Grand Season receive excellent results by offering some of the best savings in the area for local events, restaurants, and a variety of home and business services.

The attractive, glossy magazine format gives ads more attention than simply coupon mailers or newspapers tossed in driveways.  Our useful content inspires readers to keep The Grand Season on their coffee tables far longer than other types of printed ad materials. The Grand Season Publication is produced by a team of great people that strive to provide a quality guide to the Best Local Shops & Businesses for our customers and an effective marketing tool to support their businesses as they compete with the national chains.

Open House for the Colonnade - Peoria Sports Complex Adds Full-Service Event Space

Ribbon Cutting and Open House a Huge Success

The Peoria Sports Complex continues to expand and add features for the baseball enthusiasts and families. Part of the phase three renovations includes the construction and design of a full-service event space that will take mixing business and pleasure to a new level. Just completed for the 2016 Spring Training season is the Colonnade at the Peoria Sports Complex. This 3,300 square-foot indoor venue is ideal for conference meetings, small groups and special events.

Located alongside the baseball diamond inside the stadium, the Colonnade opens to an outdoor patio facing the field. The Colonnade is outfitted with the modern amenities necessary for seminars, conferences, weddings and private parties. Air conditioned game viewing room, audio/visual connectivity, presentation screens, lighting, catering services, full bar, private restrooms and a private patio all complement this unique experience.

Food Drive Event at the Chamber

The City’s Planning and Community Development Department is pleased to announce the Peoria SUPPORT (Services Uniting to Provide People with Opportunities, Resources and Training) program’s human service event titled “Passport to Summer.”  Debbie Pearson, Human Services Coordinator, is developing the Passport to Summer event in partnership with local and regional non-profits.  During the event, residents will be offered services and resources to deal with the summer months as well as the general well-being of their children or family.
In preparation for the distribution of food bags for the May 7th event, the City is hosting a food drive.  We welcome donations of items from the attached list with the intention of filling 300 food bags with enough food to supply breakfast, lunch and dinner to individuals and families.
The event will be held May 7, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Rio Vista Recreation Center located at 8866 W. Thunderbird Rd in Peoria.
