PEORIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Newsletter for the week of 2/15/16

February 2016

President's Corner

Last week and this week I believe they call “Chamber of Commerce Weather”.  If you ever needed a good testament to why we live here, these days are it!  Let’s hope the warm temps are encouraging tourists to spend lots of money in your businesses.

Rumor has it that the Ribbon Cutting last Friday at Dillon’s Bayou was a great event.  Unfortunately, I was down for the count with acute bronchitis and a sinus infection and was forced to miss it.  I’m going to have to get out there soon to see what everyone was raving about.

A BIG thank you to Credit Union West for sponsoring last Wednesday’s luncheon at Arizona Broadway Theatre.  Thomas Barr from Local First Arizona gave an extremely interesting presentation on what exactly we can accomplish for ourselves, our businesses and local communities by shopping locally.  The dollars stay home and everyone benefits.  If you want to learn more about Local First Arizona visit http://www.localfirstaz.com/

This week is a big week for Chamber events:

Tuesday morning is our Networking Breakfast at Chik-fil-A on 83rd Avenue, you’ll be getting a reminder to register from our office and the details are also in today’s e-newsletter.

Thursday is Dinner on the Diamond and have we got an event for you!!! A great meal right on the infield, a vintage baseball demonstration, Retired Major Leaguers joining you for dinner and a host of interesting speakers.  To date there are over $8000 in prizes and silent auction items to win or bid on…we even have a Photo Booth for taking some crazy memorable pictures.  We still have tickets available and I think a few tables.  Don’t forget anyone purchasing a table can get 100 spring training tickets for only a $100 to use for promotion in your business (it’s a $1000 value).  Tables are $400, so get 3 other couples to go, buy a table and split the tickets!

Nagging again….

I still need people to send me 200 words and your logo to put in our “Meet Your Member’s” section in the e-newsletter.  It’s FREE advertising so take 5 minutes and write down why people do business with you!!

If you have any comments or questions please do not hesitate to call me at 623-979-3601, or e-mail me:  gerickson@peoriachamber.com
