Newsletter for the week of 3/7/16

March 2016

President's Corner

What a Fun week last week was!!!

It started with Chamber Advocacy Day at the State Legislature, where I had the pleasure of meeting fellow Chamber executives from all of our state.  I thoroughly enjoyed spending some time talking with Representatives Rick Gray and David Livingston.  It was a very informative hearing about upcoming bills from Speaker of the House David Gowan.

Tuesday was our Networking Breakfast at Silverado Memory Care, as usual the food was excellent and we learned a great deal about their wonderful facility.  The turnout was good and we met several potential new members.

Also on Tuesday was the press conference announcing that Huntington University was opening in the former Dolce Salon & Spa building in P83.  They are offering a Digital Arts Program that will have students from all over the country wanting to be part of this cutting edge learning experience.

Wednesday was the annual Peoria Diamond Club Charity Game and the opening of Spring Training at Peoria Sports Complex.  The Chamber had over 150 people join us in the Pavilion area where everyone was treated to some amazing food from The Haymaker, Arizona Broadway Theatre and Café Rio who will like be opening a new restaurant here in Peoria.  Many thanks to these wonderful restaurants for their generosity.

Take note of the changes in Chamber emails.  Starting today you will only receive one email each week…this e-newsletter.  The staff and I plus several of you felt the amount of emails going out had become completely out of hand.  To keep you from getting fed up with us and just deleting everything we send we’ve made some additions to both this e-newsletter and our website to tell you of upcoming events you need to register for.  You will no longer receive reminders!

Any additional emails you receive from the Chamber during will be at the request of our partner the City of Peoria.

Get in the habit of registering for the events you want each week after treading this newsletter so you don’t miss attending important to you or your business.

If you have any comments or questions please do not hesitate to call me at 623-979-3601 or e-mail me at: gerickson@peoriachamber.com

No reminders will be sent.  We realize that until everyone gets accustomed to the new system some of you will miss events important to you.  Our problem has been historically, 30% to 40% of event attendees do not register until they receive the reminder the day before!
