President's Corner
I’m sorry, but if someone tells me one more time it’s a “dry heat”, I’m going to scream. Opening an oven door is also a dry heat, but c’mon really? Is 120 degrees really necessary?
The 97th Anniversary & Community Awards Banquet is tonight and thanks to Ashley Scott, Ruby Rojas and Kara Minton my amazing staff, it is going to be an incredible evening. If you don’t have tickets yet, it’s not too late to join us. I guarantee you a good time.
Strong Bodies Needed:
We’re in need of about 4 High School boys to help us move to a new storage locker at Thunderbird Mini Storage, who by the way have a great facility if you are needing to store things. Probably 4 hours work tops, I have a box truck to use, so it will only take 1 trip. They’ll each get some cash and a free lunch. Call me if you have a son around the house saying “I am so bored…” 623-979-3601.
Check out the great offer for a FREE MEAL at Noodles & Company for Chamber Members and City of Peoria Employees. You have a choice of Friday or Sunday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. OR you can go Sunday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and support Transplant Team Arizona. People familiar with Noodles & Company say the food is fantastic! And you thought there was no such thing as a free meal! Click on the link in the ad to the right and register now, they still have plenty of openings.
If you’re looking to make great new contacts and showcase your business, you should grab a booth at the Biz to Biz Expo on August 25th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Wigwam Resort. It’s a combined event with all of the West Valley Chambers and last year had over 500 people come through. It’s a great way to pick up some good exposure for your business on what will likely be a slow, hot August afternoon. Exhibitor space is only $175 if you register before 8/1, so don’t wait and reserve your spot today.
Summer has definitely arrived, so make sure you stay hydrated and keep an eye on your pets. If their mouth looks white instead of its usual pink they are dehydrated and need your help right away.

Millennial Blog on Chamber Website
Millennials are hands down the most talked about generation to date. We are the first generation to completely grow up in a digital world. We are labeled as lazy, entitled, and narcissistic.
There are negative things said about us, but that doesn’t mean we don't also have some amazing traits. Do not base your opinion on social norms. These are just a few of my takes on the Millennial generation and differences I know I have to set me apart from competition.

Annie Vargas of HomeSmart Realty, has been licensed since 2003. She has been licensed in 4 different states and in Arizona since 2007.
An Arizona native, (raised in Miami, AZ) she returned to Arizona to be the Productivity Coach for the West side Keller Williams offices, then transitioned into her own practice.
She is an Associate Broker, which is a higher level of education and is continually trying to increase her knowledge of the Real Estate Industry. This education gives her a much higher knowledge of risk and the nuances of each transaction.
During the recent crash, she became experienced in short sales and was successful in negotiating successful closings of many deals during that time. Negotiation happens to be one of her strong abilities.
Working with buyers, sellers, and investors has given her great experience, so clients can feel comfortable that they are in good hands.
