Do you remember in junior high when athletic teams had team bonding activities? Whether it’s arts and crafts, a pool party, or a “lock in” at the gymnasium, a coach always wants their team to bond – outside of their sporting activity. The question is, why?
According to the Values in Action framework, people who have teamwork as a strong characteristic tend to be more loyal and work harder for the success of the group. Instilling a good sense of teamwork builds players with the same goal…to win. The same application should happen in a business setting. By building a team of employees who bond, and work well together, an employer creates the best work atmosphere which in turn will get the most accomplished. Mayor's State of the City
Peoria Mayor Carlat unveils the new City of Peoria flag during her State of the City address.
The Peoria Chamber of Commerce was proud to host the 2017 State of the City Address for City of Peoria Mayor Cathy Carlat. The Mayor shared with the 370 guests in attendance the many accomplishments the City of Peoria achieved during 2016 and her target agenda for 2017 to make the City of Peoria an even greater place to live, work and play.
Mayor Carlat highlighted the number of awards received by the City of Peoria, members of the Peoria Police Department and Peoria Fire-Medical. The Chamber extends a heartfelt congratulations.
Our Chamber wishes the Mayor much success on her 2017 agenda and looks forward to hosting next years event.
Peoria Arts & Culture Festival April 1st
The city of Peoria has partnered with the Peoria Unified School District for the Peoria Arts & Cultural Festival on Saturday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is located between Peoria and Grand Avenues in Old Town Peoria. Activity locations in Old Town include Osuna Park, Peoria’s Center for Performing Arts, Peoria Historical Museums, and the Peoria Community Center.
Students from Peoria Unified School District exhibit their artwork and perform dance routines, theater acts, choir, and band on stages throughout the event. Attendees can eat at food trucks, watch pottery being made, participate in family bike rides, and play in the kid’s zone. Some activities may require a small fee. Prickly Pedal Bike Race
Bicyclists Head to Lake Pleasant in April for Prickly Pedal
The Prickly Pedal Mountain Bike Race is coming back to Peoria on Saturday, April 1 at 8:30 a.m., after being postponed for weather on Jan. 21. Located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, the race winds through the northern section of the Maricopa Trail, the Valley’s emerald ring—a seamless connection of beautiful desert and challenging terrain with scenic views and near-perfect riding conditions.
