June 2017 Presidents Corner The Peoria Chamber of Commerce was proud to be a part of the Ribbon Cutting for the Small Business Development Center. The Peoria City Council approved a partnership with the Arizona Small Business Development Center (AZSBDC) (part of the Maricopa County Community College System). The AZSBDC provides a number of valuable services to businesses, including onsite high quality, one-on-one counseling, facilitating capital formation, one-on-one counseling for business owners, networking opportunities, educational workshops, virtual counseling and resource assistance and training to preserve and create small business jobs and revenue. There are photos of the event in the right-hand column with a link to several more. This is a wonderful resource for not only Peoria Chamber members but all businesses located in Peoria. The best part is there is no cost for the services they offer. June 28^th marks our 98^th Anniversary and Community Awards Banquet. This year’s event features an “Island” theme with guests encouraged to wear their favorite island vacation clothes. The evening will include a special tropical cocktail, Polynesian Dancers and a feature Fire Dancing act. The full details and a registration link are in the column to the right. There are still some great sponsorship opportunities left and it’s a great way to have people take notice of your business! The Community Awards portion of the evening is to honor individuals and businesses who are making a difference in the Peoria community. Someone you know deserves to be honored for their hard work and contributions. Show your appreciation by nominating that person or business for an award. Our members have the opportunity to participate in a radio interview with CPA David Isaac from the Breakthrough Thinking Broadcasting Network (BTBN). To hear some examples click here Call the Chamber Office to be a radio guest! 623-979-3601 Biz 2 Biz West Valley Expo 2017 Click here for more information or to register 2017 is the 100^th anniversary of Lions Clubs and the 70^th anniversary of the Buckeye Lions Club. The Buckeye Lions Club will be collecting used eyeglasses at the Biz 2 Biz Expo, which are cleaned, sorted by prescription, and then used all around the world to give sight to the sightless. For each pair of glasses donated, the person will be given a drawing ticket for a wonderful prize. Five pair equals five chances, while 20 pair equal 20 chances. We will draw at about 6:30pm and winner will need to be present. Attendees can also register for our regular door prizes, of which we will have a fabulous assortment to give away during the day.
