St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church
is a parish under the jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco (www.sf.goarch.org), and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America (www.goarch.org).

Peoria and other west valley residents may be familiar with the annual Peoria Greek Fest which we have been hosting for the past 33 years.  Our most recent festival was held this past February, just before having to close our doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organized in the early 1980’s as the West Valley Greek Orthodox Church, the first church facility (originally built as the Peoria Church of the Nazarene) was purchased in June 1988. In September 1989, Father George Patides was assigned as the first full-time pastor, and the community selected Saint Haralambos as its patron saint at a banquet in November 1990. In August 1994 Father Michael Pallad was assigned as the second (and current) pastor.

In March 2010 the parish relocated to north Peoria (originally built as the Pinnacle Peak Baptist Church) and with lots of space for future growth, unanimously voted to make this our new and permanent home.

We strongly encourage and welcome visitors to stop by and take a look inside because from the outside, the beauty of Orthodox Christian iconography can’t be seen!  Once inside, the transformation is striking, seeing the sacred images in traditional Byzantine iconographic style, the majority of which are hand-painted by a very gifted member of our congregation.

The ancient tradition of iconography complements the teachings of Orthodox Christianity which have been handed down, unchanged, from the early undivided Church councils of the 4th – 8th centuries, which pre-date the Protestant Reformation by 800 years.

Our Church community is relatively new, a mere 33 years, but we are happy to offer the beautiful and timeless teachings and traditions of Orthodox Christianity to the northwest valley.  All are welcome.

Member Event - APS - 8/27/2020

Dear Economic Development & Community Partners,

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide business and community resources, APS is pleased to launch SizeUp Arizona designed to assist small-to-medium sized businesses and entrepreneurs around the state with access to data and information allowing them to innovate and expand.

With SizeUpAZ, Arizona businesses now have the ability to identify their unique competitive advantage through data analysis in four distinct areas:

  • Compare business performance to competitors
  • Identify potential customers, suppliers and competitors
  • Recognize the best geographic places to advertise
  • Gather demographic, spending and labor data for each unique business location

APS and the Arizona Commerce Authority are hosting two webinars introducing the tool and how to best navigate the data so each individual or business can customize for their own use.

We are excited to promote this new resource! As always, please let us know how APS can continue to support you in your economic development and community efforts.

Arizona Department Of Health Services Phased Reopening Plan For Paused Industries
(Information taken from Newsroom of Governer Ducey - Press Release)

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) announced public health recommendations for the eventual safe reopening of paused businesses in the state of Arizona.

If you are, or if you represent, a business closed by EO 2020-43, please refer to this linked press release

According to the most recent two-week review, ADHS advised keeping restrictions in place for the time being, but has provided the following benchmarks for industry leaders and businesses to understand when a general reopening may be considered. Businesses have the opportunity through the attestation process for review of individual circumstances in the event that they are denied the ability to reopen for public health reasons.

Benchmarks and Phased Reopenings

Upon reopening, all industries must submit an attestation form stating they are in compliance. The attestation form shall be posted in a visible location at the facility. Additional details can be found in the ADHS COVID-19 Guidance for Businesses.

Please refer to this linked press release for more information.

Expanding Support and Grants

From the Office of Governer Ducey:

"Expanding Support For Arizona Small Businesses

The Governor’s Office is partnering with Local First Arizona Foundation to launch the Arizona Small Business Rent and Mortgage Relief Grant program. The partnership, which includes $10 million from the Crisis Contingency and Safety Net Fund, leverages the grant making experience and small business expertise at Local First Arizona to quickly and prudently help small business owners meet their rent and mortgage obligations.

The grant program will provide grants for up to two months of rent or mortgage payments due by small businesses including gyms, fitness centers, bars, and water parks with fewer than 50 employees. The maximum award will be $25,000. Grants will be prioritized for businesses that are most in need of the funding to meet their rent or mortgage obligations and do not have access to other financial support.

The Arizona Small Business Rent and Mortgage Relief Grant program may be expanded by any city or county government with funds available to dedicate to the program. Interested governments may dedicate funds to the program that would then be granted to eligible small businesses within their jurisdictions. Additional details are available at www.localfirstaz.com/azsmallbizrent
