Shermain Melton

I am Shermain.

I am Christian, Black, and Gay.

If who I am doesn’t resonate with you, that’s OK. That’s why I’m here.

I was told I couldn’t sit next to someone at church because of the color of my skin.

I sometimes wonder if God made me as a joke. He gave me this big heart to love others so that I could experience the depth of not belonging.

Coming from poverty, feeling alone, and lost, I chose to cultivate the courage to create a new destiny and identity for myself.

Now, I serve and teach what I wish I had for myself growing up - A community where you can belong, be yourself, be supported, be accountable, and cultivate your own courage so that you can create the impact you came here to give yourself and the world.
