Banner Better Together Gift Giving Event

Banner Better Together Gift Giving Event

Banner Health is in preparation for this year’s Better Together Employee Giving Fundraiser. Banner Health’s Better Together has raised over 1.8 million dollars a year lending support to 501c organizations that provide shelter, meals, medical research, senior care, and more. Some of the agencies include United Way, Alzheimer’s Research, Senior Community Centers, burn camps, behavioral health, and over 20 other non-profit organizations serving Arizona.

Employee teams from each facility are tasked to find unique ways that drive the employee gift giving. This is done through payroll donations, silent auctions, or raffle participation. Arizona West is the home of two participating Peoria Chamber hospitals.  Each is offering events to entice the employee giving.  We would appreciate any items/ services that could be put together to create a unique bid gift. We are only successful in the endeavors through support from organizations giving items of significant value.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or to make a donation, contact myself for Veronica with the Chamber.

What's Happening in Peoria

Share Your Story for National Parks and Recreation Month

National Parks and Recreation Month is here and this July, the city of Peoria is celebrating parks, trails, and open spaces with the national theme: “Our Park and Recreation Story.” Peoria is home to 31 neighborhood parks and three large community parks that offer a variety of amenities such as fishing lakes, dog parks, multi-purpose fields, playgrounds, and public art. Additionally, Peoria has four mountains trails, and scenic multi-use pathways and river trails that traverse our city. These amenities are an important part of our community, and as we celebrate Parks and Recreation Month–an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), we invite residents to share their experiences, memories, and stories about what parks and recreation mean to them. Share your story on social media and tag the City of Peoria on Facebook at @PeoriaAZRec, on Twitter at @PeoriaAZ and on Instagram @peoriaazcam. For information on Peoria’s parks and trails, visit www.peoriaaz.gov/parks.

Participants are encouraged to create their artwork around the Maricopa County Summer Reading Program's theme “Tails and Tales.” Entries will be grouped into two categories: children ages 5-11 and teens ages 12-17. A winning design from each age group will be selected and used as the artwork on the next Peoria Public Library System cards. The grand prize winner will receive a $100 gift card. Peoria Launches Drought Ready Web Page

Living in the desert, water remains one of our most precious resources. As Arizonans continue to hear more about the anticipated Tier 1 water shortage in 2022, it is important that Peoria residents have the facts and know that Peoria’s water supply is not impacted. Declining water levels in Lake Mead, which serves as the reservoir for water in the Lower Colorado River Basin, are triggering a Tier 1 shortage declaration. Peoria has prepared for drought conditions in Arizona for many years and has plans in place if the shortage levels on the Colorado River continue to worsen. In fact, only 34% of Peoria’s water supply is from the Colorado River/CAP Canal. Additionally, Peoria only uses 61% of our available CAP supply and then the rest is stored underground for later use. To learn more about Peoria’s diverse water supply, and how we are prepared, visit our Drought and Shortage FAQ page at www.peoriaaz.gov/droughtready.
