Banner Better Together Gift Giving Event

Banner Better Together Gift Giving Event

Banner Health is in preparation for this year’s Better Together Employee Giving Fundraiser. Banner Health’s Better Together has raised over 1.8 million dollars a year lending support to 501c organizations that provide shelter, meals, medical research, senior care, and more. Some of the agencies include United Way, Alzheimer’s Research, Senior Community Centers, burn camps, behavioral health, and over 20 other non-profit organizations serving Arizona.

Employee teams from each facility are tasked to find unique ways that drive the employee gift giving. This is done through payroll donations, silent auctions, or raffle participation. Arizona West is the home of two participating Peoria Chamber hospitals.  Each is offering events to entice the employee giving.  We would appreciate any items/ services that could be put together to create a unique bid gift. We are only successful in the endeavors through support from organizations giving items of significant value.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or to make a donation, contact myself for Veronica with the Chamber.

August is Black Business Month!

Hi there!

August is Black Business month—a month dedicated to celebrating and lifting up underserved business owners and recognizing the importance of Black and Brown businesses to both local communities and the national economy.

Now more than ever, people are looking to support Black-owned businesses however they can, whether that’s by providing resources these businesses need to grow, liking and following them on social media, choosing to spend their dollars where customers know they'll make an impact or all of the above.

Our customer, the US Black Chambers Inc., helped to power the ByBlack platform designed to help find and support Black-owned businesses in your community. Inspired by this, we created an Instagram guide featuring some of our very own customers who are building their businesses and making a change.

I’m thrilled to be part of a company that holds diversity and inclusion at the heart of our culture and works to ensure that business owners from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences have the opportunity to succeed. I hope you’ll join us in celebrating Black-owned businesses not just this month, but all year long.

Help the City Define New District Boundaries

The city of Peoria has started the federally mandated redistricting process to redraw district boundaries. Peoria must submit the proposed city council district boundaries by the end of 2021. Beginning in October, there will be in-person and virtual open house events to learn about the redistricting requirements and the online mapping software that will be used to help rebalance the city council districts.

Peoria Prepares for Potential Water Shortage

Following the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s declaration of Tier 1 Colorado River water shortage on Monday, Aug. 16, it is important that residents have the facts. Peoria’s water supply is not impacted in these early stages. Peoria has prepared for drought conditions in Arizona for many years and has plans in place if the shortage levels on the Colorado River continue to worsen. In fact, only 34% of Peoria’s water supply is directly from the Colorado River and Central Arizona Project (CAP) Canal. Also, the city only uses 61% of our available CAP supply and the rest is stored underground for later use. To date, Peoria has stored more than 180,000 acre-feet of water underground. An acre-foot of water serves an average of three homes per year, and the amount that Peoria has banked for our community is approximately five years of Peoria’s total water demand. To learn about Peoria’s preparedness and robust water supply, visit www.peoriaaz.gov/droughtready. Also, Peoria offers sustainable workshops, rebates and more to help residents reduce their water use. Learn more at www.peoriaaz.gov/preserveconserve.

Residents should bring bags (garbage bags, old pillowcases, etc.) and shovels. Also, residents experiencing storm-related and other urgent issues, after hours should call the police non-emergency phone at 623-773-8311.

Total Presence Management

Total Presence Management is steeped in tradition dating back to the mid 90’s. All lessons learned over the years are relative to our operation today; the most obvious being our attention to quality.

Our quality initiative comes from observations of a family owned bakery dating back to the late 1800’s. Total Presence Management started with this bakery as its sole client and operational focus; this gave us time to watch quality in action and eventually consume the market place as the industry standard. We learned that it is not only the ingredients you use but how you mix, proof and bake that determines the quality of the product. The quality product that made its way on to store shelves, restaurants and dinner tables was the pride and determination of many and uncompromising attitude of all.

We've surpassed 400 members!

"We continue to experience growth due to the confidence in our business associations ability to partner with our member businesses to help them Advocate, Build and Connect in a relevant way with their community."

Hospice of the Valley is recruiting volunteers to support military families

A national program that matches people in communities across the country with veterans who need support is now available in the Phoenix area through Hospice of the Valley.
Volunteers who join the ASU-based program, called Legacy Corps for Veterans and Military Families, receive special training in caregiving support from Hospice of the Valley. They provide companionship to patients, socialization and in-home respite care that allows caregivers to take a much-needed break. In return, Legacy Corps volunteers receive a monthly allowance and a college tuition award after a year of service. Those who are 55 or older can pass this award to a child or grandchild.

If you would love the opportunity to enrich the lives of veteran patients and their families, please contact Hospice of the Valley at (480) 844-5486 or legacycorps@hov.org. To learn more about the Legacy Corps program and apply, visit hov.org/volunteer/Legacy-Corps.
