Sounds of the Southwest Singers

The Sounds of the Southwest Singers community choir is an all-volunteer 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and open to anyone who loves to sing. Their choir was founded in March, 2010 by Founding Director Matt Deller. They are self-supporting, relying solely on funding from individuals within the community as well as corporate sponsorships. They are available for concerts in most venues around the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Contact them for information on how we may entertain your group. ssws@soundsofthesouthwestsingers.com

They have performed on the stages of New York’s Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. They have sung our way through Germany and Austria and on two separate occasions at Disneyland and California Adventures. They had the honor of performing at Pearl Harbor and aboard the USS Missouri in Hawaii. Their choir also participated twice in combined concerts with Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA and in October, 2014 they were chosen to be a part of a larger ensemble to sing in Rome, Italy, performing at the Vatican. They performed in February, 2016 at Carnegie Hall and returned from touring England and France in July of the same year. They sang in various Cathedrals and at Normandy, France on July 4th. They participated in the 2017 National Memorial Day Choral Festival in Washington D.C. In April, 2018 they performed once again at Carnegie Hall to mark the 50th Anniversary of the world famous Kings Singers. In the Summer of 2019 they toured the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, under the direction of both Matt Deller and composer/conductor, Joseph Martin. On May 28, 2022, they are scheduled to return to Carnegie Hall where director Matt Deller will make his Carnegie conducting debut, directing a mass choir and orchestra.

Locally they have been featured during Glendale Glitters and have performed at the Arizona State Fair. They have sung our National Anthem for the Arizona Diamondbacks, National Anthem/Diamondbacks (video) the Arizona Coyotes, Arizona Rattlers, Phoenix Suns, The Original Harlem Globetrotters and during Spring Training at the Peoria Sports Complex. They participated for the first time in December, 2014 in Glendale's Hometown Christmas Parade as the Grand Finale and have been invited back each year since. They performed on stage with Barry Manilow at the Gila River Arena during his One Last Time tour in April, 2015. Click here to view Copacabana video.

Their choir has had many wonderful opportunities, both locally and internationally. The Sounds of the Southwest Singers enjoy working with notable musicians and conductors while visiting distinguished locations. Their goal is to continue making a difference musically in our community and wherever our talents take us.

They perform a series of themed concerts year-round throughout the Phoenix metro area, in many venues. They sing secular, sacred, classical, patriotic, Broadway, and pop musical genres. Their most popular concert series is our Sounds of Broadway concerts, giving our audiences a toe tapping experience. They are directed by Matt Deller and accompanied by Hyunmi Lee.
