MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

Make 2024 a Year of Connection

If you have attended a Peoria Chamber event or opportunity where I have had the good fortune of speaking with you, I probably used the word "connection" just a few times. I tend to be a passionate individual when it comes to things I believe in and connection to me is really what life is all about. The best part of my job is when I get to host our many networking events and witness the abundance of connections forming...I always hate getting up to the mic to interrupt all of the great conversations!

As our region continues to grow exponentially (we are still the fastest growing area in the fastest growing county in the United States!), it will be increasingly important to seek the businesses and resources that you can trust, and trust can't be built without that initial connection. I encourage you to attend one of our upcoming events to discover the impact just a single networking opportunity can have on the future of your business. And if the hustle and bustle keeps you from getting out, be sure to give me a call so that I can personally connect you to fellow members that will help you make 2024 your best year yet!

Sincerely,

Rhonda L. Carlson, MPA

Originally located on Luke Air Force Base, Credit Union West began its mission to enhance the lives of military members and their families through being a trusted provider of financial services in 1951. Today, they embrace the same commitment to the military, as well as continuing that same commitment to serve all who live, work or worship in Apache, Cochise, Coconino, Gila, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pima, Pinal, Yavapai or Yuma county.

As a not-for-profit credit union, members continue to be their highest priority; but Credit Union West goes beyond exceptional customer service and truly engages in their community to make an even greater impact. • Offering lower interest rates on loan
  • Investing in employees, products, and tools to ensure members always get top quality service and convenience
  • Supporting and hosting financial education programs for the community
  • Offering college scholarships to local students

CORPORATE TRANSPARENCY ACT

The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), which went into effect on January 1, 2024, may require small businesses to report information about ownership to the government.  This law aims to combat illicit activity including tax fraud, money laundering, and financing for terrorism by capturing more ownership information for specific U.S. businesses operating in or accessing the country’s market. Under the new legislation, businesses that meet certain criteria must submit a Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Report to the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), providing details identifying individuals who are associated with the reporting company.

Why It Matters: The CTA will impact millions of small businesses across the U.S. Knowing the intricacies of this act and its potential impact is essential for small businesses. Otherwise, they may incur criminal or civil penalties for not filing or updating this report.

Click HERE for more information to ensure you meet the reporting requirements.
