Plumas County Tourism Ad Released

Matt Staggs, KOVR

Hi Everyone,

With the Discover Plumas County Tourism Campaign being launched this past Monday, I wanted to give a quick update on what’s to come.

First off, please click here to watch the “Discover Plumas County Tourism Video”. This :30 second spot is a result of the combined footage from Dynamic Cinema’s Lake Almanor/Chester shoot and Spanish Peak’s Eastern Plumas/Quincy/Graeagle shoot.

Over the next three weeks (11/8-11/28), this video will be distributed On-Air with KOVR (CBS13 10p News, Late Show, Late Late Show, and bonus rotators) and KMAX (Good Day Sacramento, Entertainment Tonight, and bonus rotators). Also, it will be distributed digitally with CBSN Sacramento/Bay Area (OTT Local News Streaming Source featured on Connected TV’s, Desktop, and Mobile) and Facebook (Sponsored by CBS13 Sacramento, see creative below). Due to funding constraints, we only launched this initial November flight, but we hope for further contributions to come in so that we can continue into December and 2022.

Even with these constraints, we will still reach nearly 1.7 Million Adults 35+ with this flight. To measure the effectiveness of this tourism campaign, RAM (or Research of Analytics & Media) will be deploying the attached research survey to test for awareness and evaluate creative. Also, Stuart and I will be keeping a close eye on www.discoverplumascounty.com’s  site traffic and newsletter subscriptions.

Thanks again for all of your hard work on this tourism campaign. Personally, I feel really proud to have had the chance to help put my hometown/county on the map with such a positive and encouraging message. I can’t wait to see the results!

Sparkle Information

Quincy Chamber of Commerce

Friday, December 3rd marks our 31st sort-of Annual Sparkle celebration; an evening of fun, shopping and entertainment!  The magic begins at 5:00 p.m., with businesses staying open late for some fantastic Christmas shopping.  We’ll have live entertainment until 6:30 p.m. when the Light Parade begins.  Santa arrives during the Light Parade, followed by more live entertainment until 7:29 when the Christmas Tree Countdown begins.  After the lighting ceremony stay close as we’ll have more live entertainment and of course…shopping!
If you want to perform during Sparkle, please give us a call at (530) 394-0541 or email us at info@quincychamber.com.    Performance spots are limited so be sure to contact us soon to get on the schedule!

Planning on selling food or beverages during Sparkle?
Be sure to contact us at (530) 394-0541 or by email at info@quincychamber.com AND Plumas Co. Public Health  at (530) 283-6355 as there are special permit requirements.  You will need to submit a Vendor Booth Application (downloadable PDF is found on our website at www.quincychamber.com/sparkle or copies can be picked up from Plumas Bank or The Toy Store) and submit it in person to The Toy Store OR mail it to Quincy Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 215, Quincy, CA  95971 before the deadline of Friday, November 19th, 2021.  Don't forget to include your $10 vendor booth fee!

For businesses wanting to give away food and/or beverages, a couple of things to be aware of:
1) You must still submit a vendor booth application and vendor fee if you will be setting up a pop-up booth on the sidewalk,
2) Make sure all treats are pre-packaged individually and ready to be handed out prior to Sparkle,
3) All beverages must be served from closed containers (no open punch bowls),
4) If possible,  have a person ready and available to hand out the treats and beverages rather than having the public handle multiple cups, plates, etc.
Want to participate in the Light Parade?  Entry forms are also on our website at www.quincychamber.com/sparkle, at Plumas Bank or at The Toy Store.  There is a $5 entry fee.  Please submit your entry form and fee in advance if possible.

SURPRISE!  We are ALSO doing a Sparkle video again this year!  Woo hoo!  Videos must be submitted the week of November 29th (unless the video will be filmed DURING the live Sparkle event; then the deadline is Monday, December 6th).  The video will go live on YouTube the week of December 6th....or at least, that's the plan.  ;-)

If you want to submit a video for inclusion, email us at info@quincychamber.com and we'll send you the DropBox link.  Need help with the video?  Give us a call at (530) 394-0541 and Cheryl or one of her elves will come take the video for you.  There is no fee to participate, and it is open to all Quincy/Meadow Valley area businesses and organizations!
Another magical night of old-fashioned, small town celebration, compliments of the Quincy Chamber of Commerce!
For information or entry forms, visit www.quincychamber.com/Sparkle , email us at info@quincychamber.com, or give us a call at (530) 394-0541.  We’ll see you there!

Local Realtors to Help You

Town & Country Properties

Zillow had some huge losses recently because it was relying on an algorithm to buy and sell in different markets. Ben Carlson at @fortunemag (https://apple.newsAADSqwFxFQLKnUT39hBAAFA ) made a good point that one of the reasons it didn’t work for Zillow is because real estate is local. When making a big investment like a home, using a local agent can make a huge difference. Town and Country Properties are experts in the real estate market in Quincy and surrounding areas!

The New Show is Up!

Plumas Arts

The new show at Patti's Thunder Cafe is up! For November thru December, Sally Posner (Sally Posner Art) is exhibiting a show called "Lost in the Dixie Fire"--a tribute to some of the structures lost to this summer's wildfire.

You may notice that some of the pieces have "NFS" written on them. Sally will be donating these not-for-sale pieces to the owners of the properties depicted in the paintings.

Introducing: The Climbers Board Game

They gazed at the large structure of colorful blocks neatly stacked before them. The goal was simple: climb to the highest level possible. Getting there was more challenging than originally thought. Only one climber will make it to the top. Will it be you?

Your goal is to climb to the highest level of the structure. To help with your climb, you may move and rotate blocks. Ladders can be used to climb large distances. Your blocking disk will prevent other players from using a specific block. Use your tools wisely and at the right time to make the best possible moves in your adventure to the top!

Giving Tuesday

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship

#GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. #GivingTuesday was born in New York City and is now an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Following the largest consumer purchasing days of the year, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday brings about local and global generosity, unleashing the power of people and organizations to reshape their communities and the world.

Each Tuesday throughout the month of November, Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship will be promoting the power of Giving Tuesday with our GIVING TUESDAYS campaign. Each donation over $50 made to SBTS for the rest of November will be entered to receive a suped up swag bag from SBTS. Two winners can get their hands on this sweet package! Set up includes:

🏕 12L Thule Rail Hydration Pack
🏕 Sierra Nevada sweatshirt
🏕 Kleankanteen Water Bottle
🏕 “Another Day in Downieville” Mug
🏕 SBTS Dirt Magic Socks
🏕 Various SBTS Stickers
and to top it off…
🏕 A gift certificate for one shuttle and one demo at Yuba Expeditions in Quincy next time shuttles are rolling!

Last day to donate to SBTS for a chance to get your hands on this sweet swag bag is #GivingTuesday, November 30th at Midnight. We will announce our winners December 1st.
