This past year has been challenging for all of us with plenty of ups, downs, and surprises. While the café portion of Pangaea remained closed, the catering side of things remained quite busy. We had a steady flow of weddings at the Twenty Mile House, teamed up with the World Central Kitchen and the American Red Cross to serve volunteers and evacuees during the Dixie Fire, and completed a number of projects in preparation for our reopening. Well the time has finally come! We are happy to announce that we will be open for business beginning this Wednesday, January 26th, with take-out, indoor, and outdoor dining. Check out our menu at http://www.pangaeapub.com/menu.html Bottled beer and hard seltzer will also be available, with draft beer and wine coming soon. Keep an eye out for upcoming specials. Thursday sushi is back, starting February 3rd. Business hours will be Wednesday thru Friday 3:00 – 8:00 pm. We missed you and look forward to seeing you again! Note that we are still accepting cash or checks only at this time. Pickleball, Anyone? Central Plumas Recreation & Park District CPRPD is now offering Adult Pickleball Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 12pm in Serpilio Hall at the Fairgrounds. This is a pilot program to see if there is community interest. Currently, this program is FREE!! There is already a wide range of experience so don't be shy, also, paddles, balls and nets will be provided. See you there!!! See more info on our website: https://buff.ly/3eRxOMP QHS Boosters Club Meetings Quincy Jr./Sr. High School Next Concert in the Popsalooza Series Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds The next concert in our Popsapalooza Series will be next Saturday, February 5 at 7pm. The Harp and Piano Extravaganza will take place in the Tulsa Scott Pavilion on the Plumas Sierra County Fairgrounds. Tickets are available at the door for $20 and if you have a ticket from a postponed concert, you can use that as well. Stay tuned, the four postponed concerts will be reschedule over the next few months, so if you bought tickets before the COVID/Dixie Fire unpleasantness, those tickets are still good for any performance. Thank you to those who are sticking with the series and attending, we are truly sharing a special experience of music in Plumas County! Quincy Rotary to host 2022 Speech Contest Plumas News Quincy Rotary is pleased to announce that its annual Speech Contest is slated for Monday, Feb. 28, at noon. The 2022 theme is “Share with us a time that you have served others and how were lives impacted, including your own.” This is a wonderful opportunity for all 9-12 grade students to share their insights and public speaking abilities. The event will be held at Plumas County Fairground’s Mineral Building where students will address a panel of judges as well Quincy Rotary members. Please note, there will be a mask mandate at the event. Prizes for the contest will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. The first-place winner will be able to compete for additional recognition at the regional and District 5190 competition with additional rewards for excellence. Applications are available at both Quincy High School’s office and Plumas Charter School. Also, interested participants may obtain applications by contacting Beth Reid at elizabethjonesreid@gmail.com or Sarah Gallagher at segallagher14@gmail.com. Applications are due by Friday, Feb. 18.
