- Our next big event is the Plumas-Sierra County Fair Parade, scheduled for Saturday, July 30th!  Note the change in date to coincide with the change in Fair dates this year.

- We attended a webinar on Wednesday, February 9th, regarding a new Digital Optimization Program that is being brought to Northern California by the Shasta Cascade Wonderland  Association.  Stay tuned for more information on this fantastic and FREE program!

- Thursday, February 10th we will be attending a meeting of the Plumas County Chamber Coalition at Nakoma Resort.  Plans are progressing toward obtaining funding from the County to assist us in further increasing tourism and resilience and providing more value for our Chamber members.

STORY IDEAS FOR FEBRUARY:

Spring Break Family Travel
Family vacations during Spring Break are back. With an eye on the current state of the pandemic, what is your destination doing to cater to families?

Digital Detox
Where are the best places for those looking to disconnect from their screens/devices for a while? Are there locations and businesses in your destination where Wi-Fi is unavailable or discouraged?

What's New in Sustainability
Infusing sustainability into a nearly $150 billion state tourism industry presents a powerful demonstration effect for the rest of the world, and California is already shaping how travel and hospitality businesses globally are approaching sustainability. As Visit California works to further spread this message and provide specific examples across our industry, we’re looking to partners to find out what’s new in sustainability in your destination this year.

Innovation Outside of Silicon Valley
Silicon Valley is widely known for its thriving tech scene, but who else is shining across the state? This piece will spotlight the lesser-known destinations making waves in the innovation space and how visitors can experience this creativity firsthand.

Happy to answer any questions you may have.

Busy, busy!

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship

These last two weeks have been busy and we're just getting started in 2022!

Last week, we presented at the Nevada County Woods Riders monthly meeting where Greg presented the Connected Communities Project and vision. We received great feedback from the group and were honored to receive a $1,000 donation towards the Project.
Next, we held two public meetings, one virtual and one in-person on Thursday, February 3rd, where Mandy and the trail crew discussed the upcoming 2022 projects. The in-person meeting was a great success, bringing communities members to the patio at Yuba Adventure Center in Quincy to gather to ask questions or provide their thoughts about upcoming project planning.

Lastly, we had a booth at the Annual Groundhog Fever Festival and Chili Cook Off in Quincy over the weekend to celebrate the coming of Spring with the community. SBTS provided information on the Connected Communities Project and Yuba Expeditions hosted a pixie bike course for the kids and showed off the new Santa Cruz Hecklers. The event had a great turn out, and it was nice to see so many smiling faces!

SBTS is committed to playing a fundamental role in using trails to promote fun recreation opportunities as well as economic stability throughout the region. We really enjoy getting out in the community, chatting with community members, and look forward to more community events in 2022!

Plumas Transit Services for Students

Feather River College

Friendly reminder that all FRC students have access to Plumas Transit Services. It is super simple and easy to use, especially when traveling around the county. Student photo ID cards serve as the bus pass to be presented upon boarding. The Plumas Transit System schedule and information can be found at their website!

Participate in the Short-Range Transit Plan Survey

LSC Transportation Consultants

LSC Transportation Consultants has been hired by the Plumas County Transportation Commission to update the Short-Range Transit Plan for Plumas County. The Transit Plan will explore new services or changes to transit services which could improve mobility for Plumas County residents.

We are currently conducting outreach, and want to hear from as many community members as possible about their opinions on Plumas Transit Systems/Plumas Seniors Transportation.

We would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about our community survey. This survey is quick and easy, and intended for all residents (both those who ride the bus and those who do not).
