Business Update

Pangaea Cafe & Pub

Hello Everyone,

Pangaea will be transitioning into our wedding season. March 25th will be our last day of food service at the cafe. I'm happy to announce Jessie's Joint will finally be happening! Jessie's Joint will be taking over the patio and some dining room to serve you tasty treats from her food truck! We like to call this our business cooperative. Yes, she'll have a few Pangaea items, but also be creating her own amazing food truck dishes. We're looking forward to enjoying our first patio summer with you all. Stay posted for updates on Jessie's Joint!

Lost and Found Registration is Now Open!

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship

It is with great happiness and a huge exhalation of relief that we are proud to announce that after a painful two-year hiatus, the Lost and Found Gravel Festival is returning on Saturday, June 4 in Portola, CA. Registration for the race/ride opened Tuesday, March 15 at 6pm Pacific. We have an action-packed weekend planned with 100, 60 and 35-mile rides available with those famously fun aid stations followed by live music, libations and camping out. For those under the age of 23 who are thinking about riding, you can earn a free entry by participating in the Mike Shaw Memorial Scholarship.

We’ve missed seeing you all and are so stoked to bring this event back! Founded in 2014, the Lost and Found gravel ride came to life as a way to showcase some of the Lost Sierra’s vast and stunning landscapes. The ride on mostly untamed and little-used dirt roads is not only a scenic masterpiece, but an epic test of riders and their equipment. Word spread fast as it was recognized as one of the Toughest Gravel Rides in the West and over the next few years the Lost and Found packed its field limits and became known as one hell of a good time.

Our festival events are an important element in funding our 501c3 non-profit’s operations and the Connected Communities Project to create the 600+-mile Lost Sierra Route, a Trail for Everyone. This year and for years ahead, we are adopting a Peer-to-Peer Fundraising format that encourages racers, volunteers and our own SBTS staff to fundraise with their friends, families and social networks to raise $500,000 for this legacy project. Riders familiar with the big marquee fundraiser rides – the AIDS Ride, the Texas MS 150, the Tour De Cure – will recognize the format, but it is something a little less familiar to a lot of regular bike racers. We want this to be more than just a bike race or a hard ride. We want you to join us in being a part of something bigger by raising $150 per person or more to build the Lost Sierra Route. Help us shine a light on the plight of mountain communities recovering from massive wildfires and the pandemic, and at the same time, showcase the spectacular natural beauty of this area to get people inspired to come visit.

This event would not be possible without our racers, volunteers and our new event partner, Breakaway Promotions. They have been a great partner already helping us in getting this event back up and running again. They are even going the extra mile for Lost and Found registered racers by offering a 15% registration discount to their Oregon Gravel Grinder Series. Volunteers are needed to support a myriad of event support positions including course marshals, beer servers, aid station stokers and onsite registration supporters. Sign-up now to volunteer so you can get your preferred spot for good times.

Have You Heard About Community Solar?

Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative

Have you heard about PSREC's Community Solar Program? Purchasing solar power from the Community Solar Program is a great option for members who may not want to make the large up-front investment in a solar system, are renting, or live in an area with shading where a solar system would not produce optimal energy output. Community solar is a great way to use renewable power without solar panels on your roof as well as providing members solar energy that is maintenance free to them.

For more information, call 530-832-6032 or visit our website, https://www.psrec.coop/energy/solar/
