Hospital Updates for January

50/50 Raffle for Rotary Youth Activities

Quincy Rotary Club

 

Quincy Rotary Club is selling $50 tickets for the annual 50/50 raffle where ticket holders can win up to $2,500! Seven monetary prizes are at stake:

$250 – 5th, 6th & 7th

$500 – 4th

$1000 – 3rd

$1500 – 2nd

$2500!  – 1st (Based on 250 tickets sold)

Tickets can be purchased at Plumas Bank in Quincy as well as at the Rotary Club Booth during the Groundhog Fever Festival on Feb. 4 on the courthouse lawn. Tickets are $50 each.

Purchased tickets entitle two people to attend the drawing party on Monday, Feb. 13, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Mineral Building at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds. Appetizers and cocktails will be served. However, you need not be present to win.

Proceeds from the 50/50 Raffle support Rotary Youth Activities including the eighth-grade and 11th-grade leadership camps, the annual High School Speech and Music contests, Quincy Elementary’s Rotary Closet and several college scholarships.

Please pass the word to new exhibitor's families since they probably aren't familiar with all this.

Publishing Opportunity

Feather River College

FRC has a new humanities journal called "Cambium", and is currently accepting submissions for the spring 2023 publication! The deadline for submissions is Feb 28, 2023.
Cambium features a variety of artwork and writing from academic and personal essays, to works of fiction, to poetry and even art (like the image in this post)! The spring edition has an anticipated publication date of April or May of 2023. This is a great opportunity to publish and share your creative or academic endeavors with the FRC and Plumas County community.

- Students, faculty, staff, Plumas County residents; & students in Plumas or Sierra counties
· What can be submitted?
- Art (photography, paintings, drawings, sculpture, etc.), Prose (including academic or personal essays, non-fiction, and fiction), Poetry, etc.

Scholarship Awarded to Dramaworks Student

West End Theatre


The dramaworks Magic Beanstalk Players Program is pleased to announce that sixth-grader Zia Cressey is this year’s recipient of the Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship. Program Director Danielle Wagner Plocki said, “Zia has been part of the Magic Beanstalk Players program for several years. She is a great role model to the younger students and is enthusiastic about performing. She has even taken an active interest in learning stage makeup this year. Zia always has a great attitude and is very deserving of this award!”

Zia will play the role of Jonah in the Magic Beanstalk Players upcoming production of Magic Tree House: Pirates Past Noon KIDS. The production will be at the West End Theatre on March 31, April 1, and 2. Forty-five students in grades K-6 are involved in the show.

The Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship was created by Elliott’s family and contributed to by many loving friends, family, and community members. In the spirit of Elliott’s memory and his love of theatre, the Scholarship is awarded to one student each year who has demonstrated exemplary performance, enthusiasm, and dedication to The Magic Beanstalk Players youth drama program.
