SBTS Wins Yamaha Awards Grant

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship

The Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship is pleased to announce that it has received a Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative grant of $30,885 to support our Plumas National Forest OHV ground operations on the Middle Fork and Mount Hough trails. The grant was awarded as part of Yamaha’s Outdoor Access Initiative promoting safe, responsible riding and open, sustainable riding areas.

The grant funds will allow our trail crew to purchase equipment, including a QTAC Portable Fire Suppression Unit and a powered wheelbarrow. Pack 151 Hosts Pinewood Derby

Pack 151 Scouts BSA

Pack 151 enjoyed the annual Pinewood Derby on March 12 at Quincy Elementary School. Youth from Kindergarten through 6th grade participated by creating their own cars to race. Families joined in the fun, also, as well as Scouts from Troop 151.

The enthusiastic crowd enjoyed snacks, pizza, face painting, and the main event – Pinewood Derby races! The Scouts are thankful for the support of the families and community who contributed to make this happen.

Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives. Scouts BSA provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to 1) Try new things, 2) Provide service to others, 3) Build self-confidence, and 4) Reinforce ethical standards.

For anyone who is interested in Scouting in the greater Quincy area, please contact Troop151Quincy@gmail.com or visit http://www.BeAScout.org.

FRTA Campaign to Increase Heads in Beds

Feather River Tourism Association

Advertising is just one marketing tool that can successfully increase recognition of a brand. The Feather River Tourism Association (FRTA) has a commitment to promote the area with four campaigns for 2023 “We discovered last year when sending out press releases that many publications thought Plumas County was ‘all gone’ due to the Dixie Fire,” says Sharon Roberts, FRTA chair and owner of St. Bernard Lodge. “We could be dependent on sending releases in hopes they get picked up but thought we needed to make a financial commitment to let readers of recreation and travel industry magazines know that Plumas County is alive and well and guests are welcome 12 months out of year,” she adds.

Sierra Rec is a digital-only magazine covering the Sierra Nevada for nine years. They feature content that is travel and outdoor recreation related to the Sierra Nevada with wide readership in SF Bay area and LA. The magazine has run editorial on Longboard Races, Ground Hog Day, the ice-skating rink and the Chilly Chili Cookoff. January Special Edition.

Weekend Sherpa is a popular magazine amongst the SF and LA outdoor traveler founded in 2006. The on-line publication provides timely, trusted and fun ideas on where to explore in Northern and Southern California. Content includes video stories as well as website posts, weekly email, social media, photos, videos and podcasts. Best in Snow.

Beach Volleyball Earns Prestigious CCCAA Scholar Team Award The 2022 Feather River College beach volleyball team has been awarded the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Scholar Team Award. Criteria for the award requires that all team members who competed must have excelled academically with a total team GPA of 3.0. Also, 80 percent of the team members must have completed 12 or more units for the semester.
