Exciting updates from Quincy Jr/Sr High School! Thanks to a grant from the Far North Literacy Development Consortium (FNLDC), librarian Tracy Kepple and English teacher Erica Perdue have been hard at work on several amazing projects that brought more reading joy to QJSHS students.
Students chose a title from Amazon for their summer book, and guess what? They get to keep those books – imagine the adventures awaiting them this summer!
The library has been given a fantastic makeover with hundreds of fresh and captivating titles. Now, students have even more options to explore and immerse themselves in wonderful stories.
They introduced the "Free Little Library" on campus. It's stocked with all kinds of books, ready to be shared and enjoyed by everyone to spread the love of reading.
Kepple and Perdue created awesome reading swag bags for each student. At the end of the year, they received a bag filled with goodies like a book light, bookmarks, stickers, journal, pen, and, of course, another new novel! Each grade level had a different title, making it even more special.
Last but not least is the publication of a 10th grade anthology of poetry, made possible by the FNLDC grant. Special thanks to PUSD Outdoor Education Coordinator Rob Wade, who connected QJSHS with a talented poet from Tahoe for the "Write the Land" project through the Feather River Land Trust. Each 10th grader received a copy, thanks to the FNLDC grant funding those books.
We're incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the support that made these projects a reality. Let's keep fostering a love for reading and creativity at QJSHS!
