Online Shopping Discontinued

Feather River Food Co-op

Our co-op adapted to the pandemic by introducing an online shopping and curbside pickup service, which was well received during the height of the pandemic. However, as restrictions have eased and the number of infections decreased, we have noticed a drop in its usage. The program is expensive to maintain, with costs not only for the service but also for staff labor to keep the product information updated. Unfortunately, the number of users is currently too low for us to justify the cost of continuing the online shopping platform. As a result, we had to make the difficult decision to discontinue the service on July 31st, 2023. Nevertheless, we will still accept phone orders and process payments as before. If you require any assistance with your shopping, please feel free to contact us. We value your understanding as we aim to minimize costs and labor hours while maintaining exceptional customer service. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Marcie Wilde, our General Manager, using the contact information provided.

Plumas News Sunsets

Editor

After more than 150 years of providing continuous news coverage — first with its newspapers and most recently via this website Plumas News — we at Feather Publishing are changing course. As of Aug. 1, we will be focusing on our print publications including the Plumas County Visitors Guide and our monthly magazine High Country Life. Of course we will also continue to operate the print shop, which provides local businesses and individuals with the products that they need. We thank our loyal readers and all of those that we have worked with over the past decades.

Plumas News will remain live so that readers can access past content, but we will not be publishing further news content at this time.

An alternative news site is live now. A group of community members have come together to establish The Plumas Sun, which can be accessed at plumassun.org. The new news site will be offering countywide coverage of government, other news and local events. To submit news items or events for publication go to editor@plumassun.org.

We provide unbiased coverage by reputable journalists aimed at educating and informing. We believe an engaged and civically aware public is critical to democracy, contributing to a productive, prosperous and equitable Plumas County.

Gallery Opening Reception

Plumas Arts

Plumas Arts is pleased to announce a gallery opening reception tomorrow night from 5pm to 7pm at 525 Main Street in Quincy.

For the month of August, the Plumas Arts Gallery is featuring the work of Danielle Frid.

I have always had a passion for making art. Specifically color mixing, creating light, shadows and form, painting landscapes and animals. To me, art making is magical and therapeutic. Working out an idea for a project and putting all of the elements together feels like doing magic. It is gratifying to go through the creative process, experiment with a new medium or technique, to problem solve, or to finish a piece. Creating art brings me joy, and I love teaching others.

After earning my bachelor’s degree in art education and teaching credential from CSU, Chico, I discovered and fell in love with Plumas County when I started teaching art at Quincy Jr./Sr. High School in 2009. I currently also teach yearbook and graphic design. Most of my artwork is created in the classroom alongside students or inspired by our community as I host paint-n-sips. In the classroom, I encourage my students to experience as much variety of media as possible. We explore drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital art, ceramics and more! Outside of school I enjoy hosting paint-n-sips, or guided paint parties. These started as a fundraiser back in 2014 to help save our Town Hall Theatre!

If you’re interested in graphic design, commissioned art, private lessons, or participating in a paint-n-sip let’s connect!
