Sulphur Springs Fishing Camp, Inc
Sulphur Springs, situated six miles below the village of Bend on the Colorado River, has a storied past as a beloved camp and health resort dating back to 1850. Initially attracting visitors statewide for its purported medicinal sulphur waters, the area was equipped with bathhouses, a commissary, and a dance platform, thriving as a tourist spot in the late 1800s. However, as the sulphur springs in Lampasas gained popularity, the Bend springs were increasingly neglected and forgotten.Revitalization came in 1947 when Winston and Elsie Millican bought the property, eventually opening it to the public in 1961 as Sulphur Springs Camp Inc. Since then, the camp has undergone significant development while preserving its historical essence. Today, it features an extended road, additional lodges, modern hookups for travel trailers, and a swimming pool fed by the natural spring, continuing to draw visitors seeking both relaxation and a touch of history.
