Shirlene Jordan Retires
Shirlene Jordan was hired in 2014 as the director of the Springville Chamber of Commerce with only a handful of members. Today because of her efforts we have over 170 members and are now the Springville-Mapleton Chamber of Commerce. We wish her the best in her future endeavors and look forward to adding to her legacy.

Passing of the Baton
Director I want to take this time to thank Shirlene Jordan for her years of service as the director of the Springville-Mapleton Chamber of Commerce. She has served as director for seven years and in that time has built an amazing organization with a strong membership and inspiring board leaders. Shirlene decided to retire this year and take this time to spend with her husband, Jim, and their wonderful children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed but we wish her the best on her next adventure.
I would like to introduce myself as the new director. My name is Melanie Bott. I have served on the chamber board for several years, as a board member, and President. It has been a pleasure to serve with Shirlene and watch her passion to serve the business community. It has been a privilege to serve on the board with amazing board members. It is an even greater pleasure to have the opportunity to serve as the new director and serve our members. The chamber members, board, and city leaders are an integral part of the success of Springville, and I look forward to being a part of that continued success.
Our focus for 2021 is to provide more opportunities for our members. Last year was challenging, and we continue to feel the effects however, we look to the future and prepare to move forward to a brighter future filled with great opportunities.
Thank you for your continued support and membership, participation, and dedication to our chamber and community. As we focus on 2021 please reach out, get involved where possible, and share your feedback with us. We are always eager to hear from our members.
Warmly,
Melanie Bott
Director
Looking to the Future
Last year we were faced with the most challenging and unprecedented periods of our nation's history. We continue to feel the effects as we all work to keep communities and others safe by taking necessary precautions. Our community and its businesses have not been immune to the economic challenges that exist. Companies have experienced setbacks. Our community, like many others, was hit with hardship and disruption. Within the turmoil and shuffle, COVID also put a hold on many of our networking events, and we were unable to strengthen business connections. The Springville-Mapleton Chamber has continued programs, where possible, in the business ecosystem, and plans to implement changes to ensure everyone feels the support of the community, city, and especially the chamber. We have come together to refocus on the needs of our members and prepare to move forward. We look towards a brighter future filled with opportunities.
Rather than dwelling on the past year's challenges, let us focus on the opportunities that lie ahead as we continue to foster an environment for entrepreneurship and industries' growth for the city's future. We want to launch this new year with new beginnings, new opportunities, and more communication. Our members are very important to us, and we want to help them succeed. Our chamber is dedicated to advancing the general welfare and prosperity of the area, improving the business climate, advocating on behalf of our members, and offering educational support through seminars, publications, business planning, and mentoring. We at the Chamber are excited to have you aboard.
I want to thank each of you for your membership, continued support, participation, and dedication to our chamber and community. To make the most of your membership, I strongly encourage you to keep current with events and chamber news and get involved and participate in the chamber's events. As with anything in life, the more you put into the chamber, the more you will get out of it!
Our focus for 2021 is to provide more opportunities for our members. We are excited to offer more options for communication, involvement, and networking. There are many opportunities available for our members. Join a committee that focuses on a topic that interests you, sponsor a Chamber event, come and network with other local professionals at our quarterly networking Lunch and Learn events, where possible. I invite you to be an active part of our team and work side by side with business people who are as devoted to the area's success as you are. I guarantee that you will find your efforts to be rewarding and even fun!
As you may know, your membership in the Springville-Mapleton Chamber supports the chamber's functioning, allowing us to provide more advertising opportunities for you within the community. Your membership also entitles you to attend affiliate events at the discounted member rate. It is important to remember, as a member, your name is included in our online directory and our annual Chamber magazine that is mailed to over 44,000 citizens within the Springville and Mapleton area. Please look over your information in the member directory as soon as possible and update if needed. The chamber magazine is in the works and we want to ensure everyone's information is accurate and membership is up-to-date to be included in the magazine.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or ideas you may have to help us make the Chamber work for you. We would love your feedback and are always eager to hear from our members. |
