July National Awareness Month

There are so many National Awareness events that seem to get missed. So, why not add them here. There are quite a few that help celebrate our local businesses, like Donut Day and Vanilla Ice Cream. Maybe we should create some local Springville/Mapleton Business Awareness Events and spotlight our hard working industries in our area. Let us know what you think? Email info@springvilleutahchamber.org with your suggestions.

Art City Days Business BINGO 2021

We want to thank all of our participating businesses and the community who helped this fun event become possible.

Many gathered in anticipation to have their names drawn on Saturday, June 12th. Businesses donated hours welcoming kids and families throughout the week, as well as many prizes during the event, and for the drawing. There were so many comments and "thank you's" from parents who drove their kids around to each business. They were all excited to visit with each business and get to know more about the businesses in our community. They were overwhelmed with gratitude with the support for this event.

We would love feedback to continue improving the exciting events. Please let us know what you liked, didn't like, or send suggestions for next years Bingo event.

We had so much support and I hope that no one got left off the list. If for some reason you are not listed please let me know. We couldn't have done it without all of you. We appreciate all of our members and their amazing support and want to acknowledge each and everyone of you. Thank you!

Branch Operations Manager

Nannette has been in banking for 20 years, and in management for 14 of the 20 years. She is the Branch Operations Manager at Altabank off of Main Street in Springville.

Nannette grew up in Springville/Mapleton.  She grew up around small business with her parents owning several businesses. One particular bussiness was a fast food restaurant in Springville called Coaches Corner, it was located on the corner of Main and 400 South. She worked summers and after school with her mom and siblings at this energetic restaurant. During this time she learned many valuable skills including: cultivating a strong work ethic, diligence and competency. Working from a young age influenced her responsibility and dedication to family and community.

Nannette has been married to her husband, Clint, for 31 years. They have 4 children and 5 grandchildren.  She enjoys spending time with family, whether it is camping, Sunday dinners, family parties or just sitting down and visiting.  She enjoys doing any project that is creative and hands on, and is currently learning how to quilt.

Through her 18 year career of banking, she has gained expertise in: management, budgeting, analyzing expenses, problem solving and developing goals. She has worked diligently growing the branch she manages; managing employees and maintaining a customer base through integrity. Nannette has held several positions throughout the years that include: mortgage processor/mortgage closer/ mortgage lender, small business lender, branch manager/operations manager. Currently Nannette holds the position of AVP/Branch Operations Manager for Altabank at the Springville Branch.

Nannette states that " Financial education is important to making a community strong." With this passion in finance she has taken a special interest in educating youth about their personal fiscal responsibility to their home and community and over the last 13 years has taught these lessons to many high school and elementary students.

She believes in 3 Business Tips: Communication, Follow Thru on what you commit, and Work Hard and keep working.

One of her favorite quotes: “You are today where your thoughts have brought you. You will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you. You either ride life or it rides you. Your “Attitude” determines who is the rider and who is the horse.”

As one of newest board members Nannette is here to assist our members with their needs. Don't hesitate to say hi, get to know her, or even reach out to ask questions. She loves serving her community and we are excited to have Nannette a part of the board to help our members grow their business.

Beware of Scams

Read the "from" email address to make sure emails are legiti

These past couple of weeks we've discovered that someone is fraudulently using email addresses to disguise a scam. If you receive an email from anyone on the board or any other person without logos, branding, asking for help, especially with a strange email address it is not from any of us.

The subject has been titled "REQUEST" or "Check In."

We would not be asking for "discreet" tasks, or "could you spare a minute...I'm in a meeting."

Some examples that I've been receiving are titled "Request" with the following messages:

"Could you please spare a minute to assist me in completing a task discreetly.
Would be glad to receive your response through email because I'm presently in a meeting.

Best regards"

"Could you please spare a minute to assist me in completing a task discreetly.

"Are you free at the moment?"

"Could you please spare a minute to assist me in completing a task.
PS: Would be glad to receive your response through email because i'm presently occupied in a meeting, Thanks
best regards"

"Hi,

I hope you’re fine, I need your help.

Thanks"

The majority of emails, if responded to, will ask for gift cards. No one would be asking for help with getting gift cards. We want you to know that we are aware of this and are trying to figure out why and how this happened, and want everyone to be careful just in case it has been happening more than what we are aware of.

Springville Youth City Council Comfort Kits Fundraiser

During Art City Days the Springville Youth City Council collected BINGO cards as kids finished filling them in. While at the chamber booth they were able to hold a fundraiser. They made buttons and collected donations to put towards Comfort Kits for the police officers to give to children in crisis.
We want to thank everyone who helped them reach their goal and donated to their project.
