The Member and their Family BBQ Event Update

Great Food, Great People

The chamber switched things up a little bit this year by having the BBQ catered. The amazing food was catered by Burgers Supreme and with Kona Ice providing deliciously cold snow cones. Even though the weather decided to take a sharp turn and rain all day, there was a break in the clouds with warmer temperatures to allow everyone to enjoy the outdoors at Jolley's Ranch. We can't wait to start planning for next years BBQ. If you would like to be on the planning committee please contact us at info@springvilleutahchamber.org

Board Spotlight

Brad Gasaway
VP of Marketing at Namify

Brad Gasaway has been the Vice President of Marketing at Namify for 16 years. He oversees internal and external branding initiatives for Namify and three of its subsidiaries. The 2008 economic downturn put a strain on the growing business. During this trying time, Brad said that "suddenly the promotional space felt like the very bottom of the totem pole, so we had to reimagine our target audiences and find the niches that were somehow thriving at that time. One of them was the Race industry (health and fitness). After putting our heads together, we decided to leverage our manufacturing contacts, design skills, and available shirt presses to solve a longstanding problem for race directors: most of them lived with the frustration of having to place their t-shirt orders several weeks in advance and just guess at how many shirts of each size they would actually need come race day. We designed a light and desirable race-day tee that could be printed from inventory in 3 days or less, so race directors could literally take registrations right up to the week of the event and end up with very accurate orders." The struggling business was able to rethink how they did business and turn the downfall around. As Namify continues to grow, they continue to discover new ways to improve how they do business while developing creative and productive ways to help their clients grow their businesses.

Namify wasn't born in Springville. Like many business owners in Springville and Mapleton, they are transplants to the growing area and have been raised and are flourishing in this beautiful city. In 2006 Namify moved its headquarters from Provo to Springville. It was at this time that they joined the chamber. As a local, family-owned business, they truly wanted to thrive in Springville, both financially and philanthropically, and as a contributing part of the community and have been longtime members.

Brad has been a big part of the growth of the chamber. He has been an advocate for discussing the current and forthcoming trends of an evolving workforce. He stated, "If the greatest asset and concern of our businesses is their people, then that's where we can potentially help them the most. I've seen our Chamber entertain more and more of these conversations in recent years, and I feel that will continue to be imperative if we are to stay relevant and make an impact."

Brad and his wife have six wonderfully active children. They spend most of their free time supporting them in various sports and activities and hope to travel more, particularly visiting National Parks. They love being outdoors in awe-inspiring places, especially the mountains.

Brad brings with him great ideas and even better advice. He encourages all business owners to focus on three points.

  • Really dig to find out what makes your employees happy and help acquire more of that.
  • Vulnerability as a leader is a strength, not a weakness.
  • Find creative ways to serve the community ... do the unexpected, and invite your clients and prospects to join you.

"The future is as bright as your faith." Tommy Monson

Congratulations on your Ribbon Cutting Blade & Beard Co.

At a ribbon-cutting on August 10, 2021, Springville-Mapleton Chamber of Commerce and Mapleton City welcomed and celebrated the newest member of the chamber, Blade & Beard Co. The owners, Blade & Caitlin Dilldine, chose Mapleton for its central location and its hometown feel and charm. They stated, "it helps that they we are the only barbershop in Mapleton!" They are located on Slant Road in Mapleton, 1685 W. Maple St., Suite C.

Blade & Beard Co. is a classic men's full-service grooming barbershop with a modern feel and grooming styles. Blade says that he "loves to make men feel and look awesome through barbering and beard care." He not only has his barbershop but his own organic/premium beard and mustache care product line, and he teaches others the skills of barbering. Blade said, "Men's grooming will never be the same!" They have a goal to become the best beard care shop in Utah.

We want to welcome Blade & Beard Co. and help celebrate their achievements and support their goals. We look forward to seeing them achieve their goal and are glad they chose the Springville/Mapleton area to share these skills and achieve this goal for men's grooming.

Congratulations Geezerfest on a Ribbon Cutting and Festive Weekend

Geezerfest is the culmination of camaraderie and music. Sixteen years ago, groups and individuals in local rock bands during their teens and twenties decided it would be great to have a reunion with old friends and share their music again. Luckily, Doug and Stephanie Lyman offered their yard as the location, running power from their house for the few hours that they all played. Through word of mouth, others asked to participate, so they would all meet at the Lyman home for a reunion once a year. This group kept growing and expanding, having to move to larger venues, and this year Geezerfest was celebrated in Springville at the beautiful Spring Acres Art Park.

Chip Stone stated, "This will continue to be an annual event in this great Springville venue!"

Geezerfest is a reunion of old friends and fellow bandmates who share something they love with their families and friends and give them a glimpse into the past. Geezerfest brings together people from all over the country, some of who have not performed together for 50 years. The event has always been free to those attending. It is a place for fun, family, and friends.
