Every week, we will be showcasing parts of their section in our newsletter! 60Years Ago - July 21, 1960 "Eugene Wyles of Jacksonville, Florida has been elected band director for the Sylvester High School and will assume his duties at the beginning of the next term in September, according to Miss Lizzie J. Deariso, superintendent. Mr. Wyles is a graduate of the University of Florida at Gainesville, Fla., and comes here well recommended, Miss Deariso said. A safe, stolen July 10 from the J.V. Hortman store on Scooterville road, was found Tuesday of this week beside a narrow road in a wooded area near Pine Forest Baptist Church, according to Sheriff D.S. Hudson. Mrs. Cook found the safe and officers were called to the scene. The full amount of loss has not yet been reported, and no clues have been found, Sheriff Hudson reported."
