From the Worth County Sheriff's Office:

A male subject has been calling citizens identifying himself as a Sgt or Lt Mitchell with the Worth County Sheriff's Office. The individual is telling people that there is a bench warrant for their arrest due to failure to comply with jury duty. This individual is able to produce addresses, dates of birth, and in some cases a social security number for you. The individual is requesting that you obtain a green dot card usually around the amount of $300. The individual has been known to call and text from (229) 331-9182 and has sent a copy of a fake warrant. Please keep in mind that the Worth County Sheriff's Office will never ask you for money over the phone. If anyone ever asks you for money via a green dot card or any type of gift card, IT IS A SCAM!
Please call the WCSO at (229) 776-8211. Warrants issued by the WCSO are not issued by the United States District Court nor are they issued through the Clerk's Office.
