ARC announced a ~$5.2 million award package through our Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies (ARISE) today! The awards include:

• a $4.7 million grant to The Education Alliance to help prepare underserved high school students for careers in manufacturing and healthcare through training, mentoring, and career exploration and preparation services in Mississippi and West Virginia;


• and a $490K grant to Virginia Tech to support the development of forest farming business and related supply chains in Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia.

Today's package joins our first-ever ARISE grant, a $6.3 million award to Connect Humanity to expand broadband access in 12 Appalachian states.

The Richlands Branch of the Tazewell County Public Library received delivery of the replacement windows for the Phase 1 Renovation Project, Friday, June 23, 2023.  Continued progress has been made since the groundbreaking ceremony, April 4^th.  The façade improvements, replacing and painting the exterior of the building, sanding and repainting the historic iron fence and the window replacements, all are being completed.  The proposed completion date for the exterior of the building is late summer.  For more information and support towards the Richlands Renovation Project contact Chairperson Valerie Rose (276) 970-4590 or vrose@roadrunner.com
