Arizona Senate Bill 1377: COVID Liability Protections - Passed

Heads to Governor Ducey

The state Senate on Tuesday passed S.B. 1377.  The bill extends to businesses, health care providers, educational institutions, cities and towns, non-profits, and other entities commonsense liability protections from COVID exposure lawsuits.

Governor Ducey signs H.B. 2242

On Thursday 4/1/21, Governor Ducey signed into law H.B. 2242, a regulatory reform bill that  passed the House and Senate with bipartisan support. The bill addresses the current disincentive for businesses to appeal state agency actions due to the reimbursement limit on attorney fees. This new bill makes the attorney fee recovery statute for non-tax administrative action consistent with current law for tax appeals, as well as raises the aggregate cap on reimbursed fees.
 

Biden’s $2 trillion jobs and infrastructure plan

Announced March 31, 2021

President Biden this week unveiled his $2 trillion infrastructure proposal called the American Jobs Plan, includes infrastructure objectives.  To learn more follow the line on the American Jobs Plan.

American Jobs Plan

The $2 trillion proposal includes:
  • $115 billion to repair and rebuild bridges, highways and roads;
  • $100 billion to expand high-speed broadband across the entire country;
  • $100 billion to upgrade and build new schools;
  • and $100 billion to expand and improve power lines and spur a shift to clean energy.

Embedded within the plan are U.S. clean energy infrastructure initiatives to lower the country's greenhouse gas emissions, address racial inequalities, and advance the U.S. economy to compete with China.

Restaurant Revitalization Fund Grants

Part of American Rescue Plan Act

The RRF will offer $28.6 billion in grants to hard-hit restaurants and bars, with restaurants able to apply for grants based on lost revenue. Additionally, $5 billion of that total will be set aside expressly for businesses with 2019 gross receipts of less than $500,000.
