About Southside Community Development and Housing Corporation
Southside Community Development and Housing Corporation (SCDHC) first opened its doors in the Old South District of Richmond, Virginia in 1988 as a nonprofit community development corporation in Richmond which develops single family homes for households with income at or below 80% of the median income and provides comprehensive housing counseling services.
Our purpose is to provide residential and commercial development, homeownership education and counseling, financial counseling and coaching, employment services, and supportive programs to low-income families throughout the Central Virginia region.
Since our founding in 1988, SCDHC has worked closely with the community and partners to develop high-quality affordable homes. We have assisted hundreds of families and individuals to become first-time homeowners in Bellemeade, Blackwell, Carver, Church Hill, Highland Park, Manchester, and Swansboro neighborhoods in Richmond and the Counties of Chesterfield and Henrico.
