As I’m sure most know, Sheriff Thomas Smith’s visitation, funeral and burial will all take place in Tennille. As a city we are honored to have been his hometown and look forward to celebrating his life with friends and family from across the state.
A very large crowd is expected for both the visitation on Wednesday afternoon and funeral Thursday morning. There will be road closures on Thursday morning around the Tennille United Methodist Church and in downtown Tennille however parking will be available throughout the downtown area.
As hosts to these events, we want to honor Sheriff Smith by showing off the city he was so proud of. City of Tennille Public Works and Public Safety have been hard at work preparing for our visitors. Would you please join the effort by making sure trash cans are off the streets, picking up any litter from your yards and, if possible, flying an American flag?

The Funeral Services will be at Tennille United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019.

Tennille Baptist Church is available for parking in our parking lots and around the Pastorium for the funeral of our Sheriff Thursday morning. Additionally, our social Hall will be open for use of bathroom and water fountains as well as air conditioning but there will be no live feed available.
