Local High School Students Graduate with OFTC Awards thanks to Dual Enrollment

While hundreds of high school seniors will walk across the stage this spring to receive their high school diploma, some will garner additional awards as they’ve completed programs of study thanks to Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s Dual Enrollment program.

Georgia’s Dual Enrollment Program allows qualified high school students to maximize their education and career training by taking courses that earn college and high school credit at the same time.

Under Dual Enrollment, students may take academic core courses that can transfer to TCSG (Technical College System of Georgia) colleges or USG (University System of Georgia) colleges and universities. Students may also take occupational and career courses that can help jump start a career.

To our Customers, Patrons, and Concerned Citizens:

I want to first begin by saying thank you to all of you for the many loyal years of coming out and supporting our family-owned business through all the highs and lows we have experienced. I also want to extend my greatest thanks to the members of the Washington County community and beyond who have reached out to me since the score came out to ask what they could do to help us. Things like this are what make the following statement difficult, as we appreciate this community and do not want to let anyone down again:

On May 12, 2021, we received a below-failing score from the health department during a routine inspection. Simply put, this score is unacceptable. Aside from that, it is important for us to make sure our community knows that we do always strive to be our best and do our best, but just as everyone else does at some point, we failed.

While there are no excuses, we suffer from the same staffing shortage that a huge number of restaurants are also experiencing. We are eternally grateful for our staff members who DO show up and do their best to serve our customers.

It is our priority to maintain the safety and cleanliness of our restaurant so that we can properly serve our loyal customers. We want the community to know that we would never want to do anything to put anyone at risk and that we are doing all we can to correct the issues presented in our score. We feel confident that we are on the way to getting back to the 95’s, 96’s, and higher scores that we have received on our past 4-5 health department inspections since 2019.

Again, thank you for sticking with us during these times and we appreciate you choosing to spend your hard-earned money with us.

Owner: B.T. Walters

Georgia SMART Plan

Small businesses, like yours, need an easier, more affordable way to offer healthcare to your employees. An Anthem SMART plan can help you do both.

The Chamber has teamed up with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Anthem) to administer the Georgia Chamber SMART Plan (SMART). This plan allows smaller employers to join together to share in the overall claims risk. By being part of a larger, self-funded pool, employers have financial protection backed by Anthem.
