Washington Co. EMA
The Washington County EMA has been monitoring the weather & hosting daily briefing meetings with local community & public safety partners to plan, prep and prepare.

The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warning for parts of northeast, east-central, and even metro areas of Georgia from Friday night through Sunday morning.

🌨️ What’s expected:
• Snow: Some areas — especially east and northeast Georgia — could see snow accumulations (up to a couple of inches in spots).
• Timing: Wintry weather looks most likely Saturday.
• Cold air and wind chills: Temperatures will plunge this weekend with dangerously low wind chills — possibly into single digits or below in some locations.
• Hazardous travel: Roads, bridges, and overpasses could become slick and dangerous — plan accordingly and monitor local pages for travel advisories.

📌 Reminders:
✔ Plan ahead if travel is necessary
✔ Keep extra warm clothing, blankets, water, food, & medications on hand
✔ Charge phones and keep emergency supplies easily accessible
✔ Make sure pets and vulnerable neighbors are safe and cared for
✔ Check your home for cold-weather safety (pipes, heaters, carbon monoxide detectors, etc.)

This forecast could change, so keep checking updates from the National Weather Service and local weather sources as the weekend approaches. Stay safe and warm, everyone!
