Presbyterian Homes had its beginnings in 1946 when a committee, appointed by the Synod of Minnesota of the United Presbyterian Church, decided to investigate the matter of a home for the aged in Minnesota. Under the leadership of its chairman, Dr. Edwin Kagin, the committee recommended building a home for the elderly. In 1953, Presbyterian Homes of Minnesota was incorporated, with Dr. Irving A. West being elected the first president of its board of directors.
In 1955, the first senior residence was built by Presbyterian Homes of Minnesota, the predecessor of Presbyterian Homes & Services, on 20 acres of donated lakeshore property in Arden Hills. Today, 35 senior living communities, serving over 12,000 older adults, are located in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
The mission of Presbyterian Homes & Services is to enrich the lives of older adults through services and communities that reflect the love of God.
To provide more choices and opportunities for more older adults to live well.
Demonstrating an awareness of each person’s needs, and doing what it takes to meet those needs.
Seeking inspirational wisdom. Acting as agents of God’s purposes in all we do.
Growth & Innovation
Exploring and creating new approaches to improving the quality of life for older adults.
Treating others as we would like to be treated. Valuing each person in our interactions and relationships.
Optimizing, with careful responsibility, the resources and finances of the ministry entrusted to us.
