Chamber Board of Directors Retreated To Begin a 3-Year Plan

This past Saturday, the Chamber Board of Directors came together at the Chamber office to retreat and plan out 2011 as well as begin planning a 3-year strategic plan for the Chamber.  The Chamber Board placed restoring Downtown Whitehouse, along with providing a key role and continuing to be a part of the Economic Development plan with the Village council and its Economic Development Coordinator as top priorities.  The Board also conducted SWOT analysis on several issues in preparation of the 3-year plan.  The Board fully agreed to pursue reform on the current sign ordinance in the Village of Whitehouse to make it more "business friendly" and less restrictive as the Chamber has received at least a dozen concerns from new and exisiting businesses on the issue of signs.  The Chamber also heard a report from Downtown Community Partnership Chair, Jyamme Torres on plans for Cherry Fest 2011, and Darrel Limes presented an idea of a unique golf outing for the Chamber to generate revenue called Challenge Cup Golf, similar to the Ryder Cup, with an experience unlike any other golf outing or scramble.  The Board agreed to move forward with plans for the event in August.  The Board is also working on the creation of a Chamber Grant Program that would assist businesses anywhere in Whitehouse with funds to make cosmetic and exterior upgrades to their businesses.  More details will be available as the Board works on the complete process.    The Chamber has also been able to secure additional member benefits and discounts from the Toledo Zoo, Sam's Club, and The Toledo Mudhens and Walleye.  The Chamber has plans to replace the blue awning across the door with the grant funds that the Village has recently received. This should give the entrance a fresh look and compliment the other businesses that have invested in the appearance of their exterior.  Great things are happening as we continue working hard for our members!  Click on this link to learn more about the Board of Directors: whitehouseohiochamber.com/board-of-directors.htm

The Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce is working hard and will begin visiting our local businesses on a monthly basis beginning this February. This past week we hit a milestone of 300 members. Matt Padgett of Edward Jones, Chris Ruby of State Farm Insurance, and Carole Conner of Mary Kay Cosmetics, make up our Ambassadors Task Force that will keep direct communication with our local businesses. This past weekend, the Chamber Board of Directors came together for a Retreat to plan the year and began working on a 3-year strategic plan for the Chamber. Coming up this month, Legends Again will host our After Hours, and our Learn at Lunch will feature speaker Donna Shaw Martin, Executive and Personal Coach, who will present a discussion on Ruts, Revelations, and Roadmaps, teaching you to climb out of your rut, and reveal what you really want and make a map to achieve it.  On Friday, February 18th, the Anthony Wayne Business Expo will take place showcasing 60 area businesses from Whitehouse and Waterville. I would like to thank Louann Artiaga from Spring Valley Business Solutions for speaking at our January Learn @ Lunch event on 1099's tax laws.  Please attend our upcoming events this month, personal branding and networking is one of the keys to the success of your business!
