Monday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m.- Village Hall The Board of Directors at the Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce announces our first meeting this year with the Mayor and Village Council. The Board of Directors has been meeting with our local elected officals on a regular basis for several years and are working hard to ensure that our businesses are represented and informed about current and future legislative issues that may affect your business. The meeting will take place on Monday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Village Hall. All Whitehouse area businesses along with ALL Chamber members are welcome to attend. This roundtable discussion will include the topics of: temporary signs, 2-hour parking arrangements, economic development, and the downtown district water & sewer project slated for this summer. We have received many calls from our area businesses regarding these topics and are working with our Village to make sure our voices are heard and our concerns are understood. The bottom line is that YOUR voice will be heard; so please attend this meeting and offer your comments to our elected officials who are here to work for us! This is also a very important election year and the Chamber is monitoring voting records and meeting minutes to evaluate Candidates' who are in the best interest of the business community. Bittersweet Farms to Benefit from Ohio Arts Council, Artist in Residence Program
Bittersweet Farms received a grant from the Ohio Arts Council to help support an “Artist in Residence” program for two weeks. Matt J. Paskiet, a local glass artist, will work with the artists at Bittersweet Farms from March 28 through April 8. During his two week residence, Matt and resident artists with autism will be creating pieces of art with glass. This is the first time in Bittersweet’s history that artists will have the opportunity to work with glass. A community presentation of Matt’s work and reception in his honor will be held on the grounds of Bittersweet Farms in Whitehouse on Monday, March 28, at 10 am. The public is invited.
Bittersweet, Inc. is a not-for-profit agency that serves adolescents and adults with autism. Bittersweet Farms has been open for 27 years and has been recognized nationally and internationally for its successful programs for adolescents and adults with autism. “We are honored to have Matt visit Bittersweet,” said Executive Director, Vicki Obee-Hilty. “The best thing about this program is that our residents will be exposed to a world class artist and have the privilege to learn from him. This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for our individuals with autism. We are very thankful to the Ohio Arts Council for the grant that made this program possible.” The Ohio Arts Council is a State of Ohio agency that supports public programs in the arts. The Council was created in 1965 to “foster and encourage the development of the arts and assist the preservation of Ohio’s Cultural Heritage.” The Council believes the arts should be shared by the people of Ohio. The Bittersweet Farms’ project embraces the mission of the Ohio Arts Council. |
