Village Council Takes Action On Chamber Issues

The Chamber along with the Mayor and Village Council met last week to discuss some issues that were affecting the business community.  The two main issues were the 2 hour parking and the Sign Code.  The Village Council took the thoughts and concerns from the meeting and at this week's Village Council meeting took action.

The Council PASSED a motion to remove the 2 hour parking signs in the Downtown district, while keeping the ordinance in place in case there becomes an issue.  The Council also PASSED a  motion to suspend Sign Code ordinance 1259.08 Section E #2 regarding the length of time that a temporary sign is allowed to be posted on business premises or location. There will no longer be a four month maximum allowance for temporary signs or banners in the Village limits for businesses.  Council has already wavied the temporary sign permit fee and that ruling still remains moving forward.  The Council PASSED a motion to recommend that the planning commission review and make suggestions to change the sign code and make it easier to understand and more accomodating for businesses based on their location and visibility from traffic.  The Chamber will keep you posted on any further developments with the Sign Code.
