Wow, what a great weekend it was for Cherry Fest! We had a very successful year with the festival and broke sales records in several venues. We want to thank our 32 sponsors including our presenting festival sponsor Steve Roger Ford and our presenting parade sponsor Chris Ruby State Farm Insurance for their investment this year. We had over 100 volunteer ambassadors that worked on the grounds of the park this past weekend which made the festival run flawlessly. We sold out of cherry pies as did the fireman’s chicken bbq dinners. Our Grand Marshal, Barb Smigelski was honored during the parade by our community and we appreciate her commitment to our area.

We are now preparing for another fireworks show that is sponsored by the Whitehouse Chamber and the Downtown Community Partnership on Sunday, July 3rd at 10:00 p.m. at Village Park as part of Founder’s Day that is sponsored by the Mayor and Village Council. We will also have a Taste of Whitehouse during this event which features our Whitehouse dining establishments and offers their great tasting foods for you to purchase and enjoy during the concert on Founder’s Day.

Saturday, June 18th from 6pm-8pm

Sir Charles, the Crooner will perform a free concert in the Village Park this Saturday, June 18th from 6pm-8pm. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and spread out under the shade and enjoy an evening of live music. Let the kids play in the park, and enjoy dinner in one of our local restaurants before or after the concert!
Charles Ewing sings the songs of the crooners such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, and others!
 

Fundraiser for Whitehouse Library

The Whitehouse Libary is sponsoring a Garden Tour Fundraiser this Saturday, June 18th from 1pm-5pm! Tickets are $10 per person and all proceeds help fund the Whitehouse Library. View six lovely private gardens and the gardens located at the Library which now include a labyrinth built this spring.
Tickets can be purchased at the Library during normal business hours or by calling 419-877-9088. Tickets are also available the day of the tour at any of the homes:

Friday, August 19th....Teams Forming Now!

The Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce will host their golf outing Friday, August 19th at Toledo Country Club. But this tournament will look quite different than any other.

The Whitehouse Chamber Challenge Cup will provide everyone the experience of playing in what looks and feels like a Ryder Cup.

Foursomes accustomed to playing in a scramble will remain as teammates but will be combined with other golfers to comprise a team of 10-14 depending on final count. Teams will be identified by wearing uniform colored team shirts and can form from businesses, public services, and non-profit organizations like churches and schools.

Golfers will play a 2-person scramble in matches against two-somes from other teams. Each match will be 9-holes of “head to head” competition. The goal is to win the match and contribute a point in the team’s quest to win the Cup.

All matches are competitively balanced pairing opponents of similar skill against each other. If that is not possible, a handicap system of giving strokes and/or starting ahead or behind in the match creates fair competition for everyone.

Several scoreboards featuring every golfer’s name, results of all matches, and team standings will be kept live on the course. A tournament program picturing all the golfers along with a personal bio is sure to add a professional touch as well. The names of the winning team members will be engraved annually just like on the Stanley Cup.

The Whitehouse Chamber Challenge Cup will definitely be a memorable, unique golf experience for all involved.
