Whitehouse, Ohio…….Beth Meyer of Bittersweet Farms again participated in Special Olympics in Columbus, Ohio. As has been the case numerous times before, Beth won medals in swimming however this time, she was 50 years old and still winning gold! Beth won a Gold medal in the 50 meter free style and came in fourth in breast stroke. Beth swims in the 30 years and over bracket.
Also competing were Mike Davis who won Gold and Silver medals in tennis and Gino Temple who won a Silver medal in softball throw and a Bronze medal in the 100 meter dash. Phil Morgan placed fourth and fifth in the Bocce competition. The four athletes from Bittersweet Farms practice year round preparing for the State Summer Games.
Some 2,700 athletes and coaches were at Ohio State University for Ohio’s Special Olympics – the State Summer Games. The Games bring together Special Olympics athletes from across the state for competition in 11 sports: Aquatics, Athletics (track and field), Bocce, Bowling, Cycling, Gymnastics, Power Lifting, Roller Skating, Soccer, Tennis and Volleyball. In total, Special Olympics Ohio has approximately 200 local member organizations and over 23,000 athletes who are in training and competition.
