Getting closer.....applications for vendors, parade, etc.

This year Steve Rogers Ford will present the 30th Annual Whitehouse Cherry Fest June 7-9, 2012. We are expecting a great year with The Eyes of Freedom Memorial Wall on display this year, Fantazia, a non-animal circus act performing acrobatics, 15+ large amusement rides, a family movie night in the park presented by Chris Ruby State Farm Insurance and much more! We have 10’x15’ exhibitor spaces available for only $30 this year for flea market, arts, crafts, merchant and non-profits to participate. We also are accepting applications for our Parade that will step off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9th as well as our Cherry Dessert contest, Little Miss Cherry Blossom & Cherry Queen contests, and our 5K race. All applications are available online at www.mywhitehousecherryfest.com. The Chamber office can be reached at 419-877-2747 for any questions. Close to 125 Chamber Volunteer Ambassadors will be ready to welcome visitors to our town. We are excited to offer a quality level of entertainment to our community as well as the Northwest Ohio region.

Chamber Energy Solutions Mailing Going Out Next Week

All Members Will Receive Sign Up Info Via Post Card

Chamber members will begin receiving next week our information card about Chamber Energy Solutions in their mailboxes to help you get introduced to the program.  Please be aware of this and make time to sign up as we move into the warmer months of the spring and into the summer and lock in some really great rates before your energy consumption increases.  The current pricing rates are falling and are good through February 2014.  We look forward to helping you save and increase your bottom line with this unique Chamber product.

Recycling Day This Saturday April 28th at Whitehouse Village Park

Recycling Day in Village Park on April 28 from 10-4. Items accepted include clothing, electronics, household linens, appliances, furniture, tires (small fee to cover landfill costs), automobile batteries, eye glasses, used ink cartridges, rechargeable batteries, and cell phones. The Whitehouse Fire and Police Department will host another “Take Back Prescription Day” from 10-2 at the Fire Station on Waterville Street. Drive in the front door, drop off you outdated and unused prescriptions, and drive out the back door. Only pills will be accepted at this event. Unfortunately we CANNOT accept paint and household chemicals this year, but we will have demonstrations and information on how to safely dispose of these items. We are looking for volunteers to help clean-up the Village after the winter months. If you have a neighborhood group, family, scout troop, or youth group who is interested, please let us know. ALL VOLUNTEERS WILL RECEIVE A FREE LUNCH!

Whitehouse Flower Market Kicks Off Saturday May 5th

The Flower Market will be held May 5, 12, 19, and 26 in downtown Whitehouse at the intersection of Providence Street and the Wabash Cannonball Bike Trail. The Market will be open from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Items offered will include fresh flowers, flats of annuals, potted perennials, trees, flowering bushes, coffee, pastries and other handmade items. This year we are offering other items to enhance your yard, patio, garden, and decks by adding bird feeders, houses, and baths, lawn art, lawn furniture, wind chimes, etc.

We’re looking for additional vendors who are interested in participating. For more information, please contact Whitehouse Village employees at 419-877-5383 or e-mail bknisely@whitehouseoh.gov. Booth rental fees are only $10 per week, with no long term commitment.

The Farmers’ Market will be held later in the summer (mid-July – October 6) when fresh fruits and vegetables are available from local farmers.

Make plans to visit both markets weekly for your gardening needs, fresh fruits and vegetables and other unique items. Ride your bike, drive your car, or walk to downtown Whitehouse! Make a day of it by playing in the park or taking a leisurely stroll around the Nona France Quarry (bring your fishing pole). You can also browse the bicycle shop, enjoy an ice cream cone, fresh pastry and coffee, or have lunch at one of our restaurants!
