Chamber Lights Up The Sky Again With Annual Fireworks Show

Thursday, July 5th in conjunction with Founder's Day

If you thought Cherry Fest fireworks were awesome, well- you are in for another exciting show.  The Chamber will sponsor the 2nd annual fireworks show in conjunction with the Village of Whitehouse Founder's Day on Thursday July 5th.  The fireworks display will launch at dusk or around 10:00 p.m. behind the quarry.  Check out these other great activities during the day that the Village of Whitehouse has planned!

The Village of Whitehouse will sponsor the third annual Founders’ Day Event on Thursday, July 5, 2010 from 5:30 pm to 10:15 pm.  This fun-filled family event will be held at the Whitehouse Village Hall, 6925 Providence Street, next to the beautiful Nona France Quarry.

Meet your family and friends and unwind with Mother Nature, great music, food, fun, and fireworks!  This event features live music by Mt. Fuji & the Eruptions, hot dogs and brats cooked by the Whitehouse Fire Company, kids games and activities, a live auction, and a fireworks display sponsored by the Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce.

New this year is a fundraising activity for the Whitehouse Library.  We will be auctioning off a Flock of Flamingos – 10 uniquely dressed pink flamingos.  The flamingos have been on display on several occasions in May and June in downtown Whitehouse.  First you can vote on your favorite flamingo and the designing artist will receive prizes and gifts.  Then Charles Plymale, a local auctioneer, will auction them to the highest bidder.  All proceeds will go directly to our Library to help support the various programs offered.  Your generosity will be appreciated!

Kids activities will begin at 5:30, dinner will be ready at 6:00, live music at 6:30, live auction at 7:30, and fireworks at dusk.  Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy Mother Nature along with the other great family-oriented activities.

For more information, call Village Hall at 419-877-5383 or visit our website at www.whitehouseoh.gov.

Cherry Fest A Huge Success!!

Pictures Coming Soon to Website!

The 30th Whitehouse Cherry Fest was a huge success with great weather, large crowds, and plenty of attractions this year.  We would like to thank the Whitehouse Police and Fire Departments for their assistance as well as the Village of Whitehouse maintenance team for the beautiful appearance of the park for the festival and their hard work in part with our logistics preparation.

A special thanks to our presenting sponsor Steve Rogers Ford, Steve and Kristy really worked to ensure that our premiere community event was taken care of and thanks to Chris Ruby-State Farm Insurance for sponsoring our first ever Family Movie Night and Cherry Fest Parade.  We are planning on possibly doing another Family Movie Night this summer due to the success and attendance of the film at the festival.  Stay tuned for that date in the near future.

Diversified Insurance's Chamber Chatter

By Robert Keogh

Business Insurance Losses and Making Sure Your Staff
Gets Out Safely

With the heat of the summer upon us we have several items we wanted to discuss in this week’s Chamber Chatter. With heat comes storms and some times severe storm activity. If something serious occurred at your workplace, be it a storm or a fire or another catastrophic event, are you and your staff prepared to “GET OUT?” Follow the link to the Whitepaper we have shared with many of our clients, it gives some good practical tips on getting out safely. It may be commonsense but it also is probably good to think about it before you have the need to think about it. Feel free to share this with your.

Turing Up the Heat on Workers Compensation Insurance Losses
I was in the car recently driving and was enjoying the College World Series. Kent State upset the number one seeded Florida Gators! While it is always fun to root for the underdog, especially from our part of the country, it also reminded me of one of the biggest perils of working during this time of the year. In the first inning, with the very first batter up, the pitcher collapsed and was taken from the field. It was not until later in the game that we heard he had suffered from heat exhaustion. While scary, it sounds like with fluids everything was back to normal. How do we keep ourselves and our employees safe from extreme heat? Please take a look at the newsletter we have by following this link to get practical tips on avoiding heat exhaustion or worse heat stroke.

Geeks and Grills – Keeping with Our Summer Heat Chatter
I love eating BBQ, and I love cooking BBQ! And what goes really great with BBQ? Technology, of course. Here are three products that I like:
iGrill – it’s an app for BBQ-ing. You heard me.
Weber on the grill - over 280 great recipes from the Weber people, who know a thing or two about barbecuing.
Ask the Butcher - an iTunes app that answers all your meat questions. Great if you ever get on David Letterman’s show and have to play “Know Your Cuts of Meat.”

Seeing Beyond Insurance
Nobody likes it, few understand it many avoid it. What is it? Your business insurance. I am Robert Keogh and here at Diversified Insurance Service we try to see how our product can affect your total operation. We hope that some of the information we shared today benefits you. If you would like an exposure audit please feel free to contact me at 800-848-2788. We don’t just stop at excellent coverage and fair pricing—that should be expected. We like to help our clients avoid loss and continue business operations if they do suffer loss.

Sincerely,
Robert Keogh
