Chamber Energy Solutions Natural Gas Update
Natural Gas Market Update
While natural gas prices remain near the lower end of the 10 year pricing range, the average consumer can expect their gas bill to increase by 5-15 cents per CCF when compared to last winter. Underground storage which will be used for the winter heating months has set an all-time high, meaning there should be sufficient supply to meet the winter demand. However, the expectations of near normal winter temperatures have kept the prices from dropping to the levels seen one year ago. These factors and current market conditions leads to prices that have the potential to be upwards of 24% higher when compared to the price paid per CCF last winter. Due to the normal winter temperatures that are expected, the consumer will also most likely see an increase in their total bill because of an increase in usage from last winter to this winter.
The take away here is that when budgeting, remember that last winter was extremely warm and gas was plentiful. The probability of this winter being the same is slim. Budget appropriately. CES will continue to monitor the natural gas market and manage our clients pricing by purchasing gas when pricing is more advantageous. Any questions about the CES program please contact Amy Hoffman at ahoffman@palmerenergy.com or call 419-539-9180.
