AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR-MICHELLE ROUSH

This Chamber member has been married for 14 years to George, with three boys (8, 10, &12). She has never been one to sit still. After being injured in the line of duty as a Toledo Police Officer in 2006, she found herself a looking for a new career. She filled her days volunteering, tutoring at Whitehouse Primary, leading cub scout dens and going on mission trips to Mexico. In 2011, she was approached by Susie Brown about purchasing her flower business. Seeing an opportunity to do something creative that still allowed her to put family and volunteering first,Michelle bought the business from Susie. Originally sharing space with another business, it soon became apparent that a larger space was needed. Anthony Wayne Floral found it's new home at
6778 Providence in October of 2012. The support from the community has been astounding and AW Floral continues to grow not only its business, but it's reputation for putting customers first. Michelle has demonstrated great dedication and commitment to the Chamber as an Ambassador and member engaging and meeting with existing and new members to the Chamber! We appreciate and thank her for all of her efforts! Congratulations to our Ambassador of the Year...Michelle Roush!

Chamber Organizes Structure With 2 New Affiliates

The Downtown Community Partnership-Cherry Fest

The Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors took a look into ways we could help out the Whitehouse Cherry Festival committee, which since 2006 was directly under the Chamber's responsibility. With rising cash flow with the growth of the festival and for tax advantages for the festival, the board decided to delegate the responsiblity of the Whitehouse Cherry Festival to the Downtown Community Partnership, an organization started by the Chamber with its own tax identification number and board of directors.  They will work as a 501c3 which the paperwork has been filed and assume the responsibility of the Cherry Festival, the Founder's Day fireworks show, downtown Halloween activites and the annual Christmas Tree lighting in the park.  This organizational change allows the Downtown Community Partnership and its board of directors the ability to focus and dedicate their resources soley on these events as well as obtaining funding through sponsorships, and most importantly grants.  The mission of the Downtown Community Partnership is to preserve, beautify, and maintain the public parks located in the Village of Whitehouse to promote the enjoyment of the entire community as a chairtable purpose. The Downtown Community Partnership is under the direction of President Frank Colbry and nine board members made up of community residents and business owners.  Their offices will be housed within the Chamber's location and continue to work closely with the Chamber and its members.
