Chamber events cancelled this week
The following events have been cancelled and will be rescheduled due to the low member turnout at the recent Chamber events. With the increasing amount of members taking vacations and with the warm summer months upon us, we felt it appropriate to postpone these events:
Chamber 101-Electric Deregulation on Tuesday July 20
Downtown Community Partnership Fundraiser at Abuelo's on Thursday July 22
Chamber Sponsors Community Shred Day
Friday, July 30th 1-3pm-Village Park near shelter house
THREE BOX LIMIT PER VEHICLE
The public is invited to bring up to three banker boxes of papers per vehicle to shred at no charge to the Whitehouse Village Park shelter house, off Providence Street on Friday, July 30 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.. All papers will be recycled. Consumers are encouraged to bring their sensitive information to be shredded, including confidential documents, check stubs, bank statements, credit card offers, and old tax records. The event is sponsored by The Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce and made possible by the generous donation of staffing and mobile shredding trucks from AccuShred, a Toledo-based information destruction and recycling company. There will be a $3 charge for additional boxes of papers; Please arrange ahead of time for large quantities of paper.
“Shredding is one of the most effective tools we have in the fight against identity theft and recommended for managing documents containing personal or financial information,” advises Jeff Green of AccuShred. “It’s not uncommon to see these shred days bring in nearly 15 to 20,000 pounds of paper. When recycled, this saves about 175 trees. Not only are you protecting your identity, you’re helping the environment,” he adds.
For more information, or to make separate arrangements for handling larger quantities of commercial papers, please go to www.accushred.net or call Jeff Green at 419-244-7473.

Chamber and Village Council, Mayor, & Administration To Meet
Monday, July 26th at 6:30 p.m. Village Hall
Chamber members are invited to attend our next Joint meeting with the Village of Whitehouse coming up on Monday, July 26th at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall. We have made great strides with the Village and opened the communications up for a better understanding of what our members need and want. The Village has been very supportive of the Chamber of Commerce's efforts and initiatives. This will be our third meeting with the Village since 2009 and we are excited to continue to build our relationship together. There will be an agenda covered and Chamber members are welcome to submit any ideas or issues that they would like to see addressed on their behalf. We have made a lot of progress with Village council on Temporary sign permits and contractor fees and look forward to this meeting. This meeting will not be used to address individual member litigation issues with the Village as the Chamber does not act on behalf of any members legally. We appreciate everyone's effort to make this meeting a success!
